The trailer was super exciting. Looked like an awesome game. Like most trailers for Eve I've seen it doesn't look like the game I play. So while I'd love to play that game, I will eat my Pessimists For Life membership card if we have anything even remotely like what the trailer showed with Eve, Valk, Legion all integrated within the next 2 years.

First major hurdle to anything like that: TIDI

"The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental."

I imagine that CCP would first have to develop a robust, well populated game for Legionnaires and Valks to play in, with regular "maps" and so forth. EVE entities would then recruit/use the best of the best to engage in station capture/station destruction games.

Regular folks can log in as normal everyday to get their fill of killing . . . until the e-mail goes out to all members of the clan/guild/tribe of Legionnaires that are aligned with a particular null-sec bloc saying, "be ready to rumble at 16:00 tomorrow - we're taking XYZ when it comes out of reinforcement mode." Similar email goes out to the premade Valk squads telling them to log in and prepare to run interference/dogfight like mofos at 15:00.

Basically, CCP better not make these games shitfests that can't stand on their own. But if they can stand on their own, as engaging FPS/dogfight simulators, there will be a lot of people chomping at the bit to be the first out of the dropship that is about to hit VFK.

I am not an alt of Chribba.

and if star citizen turns out to be even a quarter of what they claim in all the hype, Valkyrie couldn't have picked a worse time to start getting worked on

It wont

And they are utterly different projects (V and SC), so I dont know how they supposedly compare

Yes they are very different.

Also, CCP is very good at making trailers.

will i get killmails for each and every Dust bunny onboard the transport if I kill it? What if I blow up the structure they're trying to take?

Wether or not you think CCP can accomplish this vision I have to ask my fellow players: Is this something you are excited about and would love to see implemented?

Even though I like 3rd person shooters (especially APB) I don't believe CCP is capable to deliver anything interesting (besides CG videos) so there is nothing to discuss and to be excited about.

I made this topic primarily to show CCP that people are infact still excited about Infantry in EVE and to pursuade them to continue working on Legion, despite the backlash they got from the Dust community.

Im not against them working on Legion and would love to see that come to fruition but in terms of the situation you have two games being worked on by the same team, I presume the resources are split prettye venly between them. Legion is in an experimental phase not even to an acceptable alpha state, Dust although is not perfect IS being played every day.

I know everyone here thinks oh the PS3 is dead blah blah blah. However, CCP can still provide content updates to Dust with sights set on migrating that to PS4 later on. My only concern here is dev resources. The really should focus primarily on the development of Dust, I know Legion is something everyone wants, but if they split the team into 80-Dust and 20-Legion. It allows them a bit of a chance to work on Legion but also put the majority of resources to solving issues with a game that is already out instead of impeding those changes by shifting focus to a game thats not even designed yet.

I think if they focus on the challenges of bringing what Legion is going to be to the console, the PC development of it will go a lot smoother since the features and functions would have already been developed, just need to write them to a PC client. This would help keep Dust alive and bring Legion about too so that in the end Dust and Legion are essentially the same, the only difference is one is on console and the other is on PC. I think that would be something that both PC and PS players would want.
