Since I've seen a lot of debate over the subject of bump legality when used versus freighters (that one 20 billion isk one comes to mind P ) and CCP has been less than forthcoming with a response due to the very heated responses, I believe there might be a solution to the problem by forcing the issue. Most of the forums tend to devolve into pointless name calling and circular arguments that have no bearing on what actually matters---i.e. CCP policy on this SPECIFIC matter. For that reason I ask that a mod immediately lock this thread as this is only my proposal, and I do not wish to debate with people not from CCP. To anyone not from CCP that responds before it is locked, I'm glad it interested you, but I'm not going to respond in any shape or form.

Namely the idea would be to have an event near the more popular highsec areas which has many freighters going through. The goal would be to set up a camp at all the gates and stations in order to bump any freighters that go through repeatedly, indefinitely (as that is doable with the current mechanics), stopping their log offs with noob ship fire for a period of 2-3 days. Now of course downtime would take some of the camp away, but I believe it would still be very noticeable on CCP's end and would encourage an official response on how the matter should be handled or what changes need to be made. The reasoning being with that much inconvenience and mayhem, enough people will complain to get them to say something official.

I can understand some freighter pilots being angry at this, but as it is there is no official statement on FREIGHTER bumping, and this can currently be used to grief a freighter pilot indefinitely with no risk to the party bumping them. Until an official statement is released you can be trolled at the whim of any random pilot with an oversized MWD and some time. The only thing I can say if this event does catch on, is sorry. No hard feelings, but I want to know the answer to this as might anybody else who is a freighter pilot and proposing this event seems like the best way to get results for me at this time.

For those that would gain profit from it, good luck and have fun. As the mechanic has not been removed by CCP you have all right to do this event if you want to, and if some freighter pilots happen to look like good targets for a suicide gank that is also within your current rights, so feel free to arrange Jita Burns: The Sequel, no one can stop you at this time anyways, so may as well get your money's worth while it's ripe for the pickings. While finding an official answer to the legality might not interest you, judging by the forum responses this year, it will be addressed soon anyways making this a matter of time, so why not go out with a bang?

I will reiterate that this is only about FREIGHTER ships. Mining barges are not included in this as the issues involved are different in that freighters can be locked down indefinitely, while mining barges can warp out much easier (freighter align times are the main reason it is an indefinite form of griefing). I am not planning to schedule the event, there are people with organizations much better suited for that, I am merely suggesting something that might pass the time, and perhaps get results. Thanks for reading my idea, have a nice day.
