TLDR: Right now we are many, if our consciences get stored on this database, we will become one.
Because we need to be on this database in order for us to be able to jump inbetween the 4 states of conscience CCP mentioned.

I think that sentence has another meaning.

What was many = Humanity before the Eve-gate collaps.
Becomes four = The rising of the four main empires from the ashes.
Becomes one after one became four = The advent of the capsuleer and other forms of immortality.

Now mankind can finally be united and become one.

The first time I have heard of player gates was over one year ago. Again more talk at fan fest with absolutely no substance. This is just smoke to keep people interested. Most importantly expansions are now gone and this to me means that eve has been put in maintenance mode. So keep dreaming. If you look at Dust, it was supposed to have monthly updates too... Given the WoD (World of Dust) on PC development and the WoV (World of Valkirie) with Face Book goggles now going on, I suspect you will keep getting more rebalancing that cost nothing and some repackaged stuff developed for these other games. It might not be a conventional stargate though. The original EVE gate was a stable wormhole. This new type of gate could be a wormhole generator or something similar.


Or even a 1 way gate and you would have to build one on the other side to get back.

On topic: Well, no clue how player built gates will be handeled, but I recon it will take a great deal of resources and time to build one... and they will make great assets to fight over.

Remember in the CCP presents presentation?

They talked about how we would be able to jump from our EVE clone to out Valkrie clone and to our Dust clone with the same character but that this would require a sort of databate that stores our collective conscience.

I don't think that calamity is related to the games, since I am fairly sure that it was written before they had any idea of what other games there would be or how many games would be included. However, I do have idea and suggestion for the fourth game for future development. Have WIS separate for its own game where one could do exploration, espionage, socializing, trading (at common markets with EVE) and so on. It would be open for EVE players automatically (just use the door) and players entering EVE universe through that game could get to EVE with their characters if they get PLEX (or sub, though in game it would be mentioned they got their pilot license). This game could be the link between all other games.

Some kids just don't realize the IP predates Twilight, by a decade or two. They just hear vampires and think sparkly, which shows their ignorance.

id love to see if there was no coming back once you jump through that gate unless you build another gate on the other side which means sending lot of industrialist in and yeah it wont be walk in the park on the other side either aka sending lot of war ships with those industrialist to protect them as well :) and dont forget to defend your first gate as well as there might be lot of capsuleers willing to destroy it and let all those guys that already jumped through to bleed out without further reinforcements :) .....(where did i already .. ah yeah .. EVE gate :)) hmhmh i can only dream

hopefuly ccp wont spoil what is waiting for us inside so first explorers will be dying horribly in thousands



anyway id say first gate will be CFC / N3 ... definitely getting my popcorn ready and looking forward for space race ;)
