The trailer was actually a glimpse into the past. When Caldari and Gallente built their first Stargate, since before that the empires used ancient stargates built by the Jovians and Sleepers. The Amarr where the only ones who mastered gate technology which is why they attacked.

AD 21290
The Amarr build their first star gate, between Amarr and Hedion. This sparks a period of great expansion for the Empire

AD 22588
The Gallente and the Caldari build their first stargate out of VH-451, sparking a period of expansion which mostly benefits the Gallente

Due to Gallentes expansion they forced Caldari to join the Federation, later causing the Caldari to rebel and leave the Federation which started the conflict between Caldari and Gallente.

No, it's a player corp they are attacking.

But the interesting part is that whatever is behind that gate, it's bad enough to make the Amarr throw away the various treaties and declare open war on a player corp to stop it from happening.

Incorrect, Jamyl I acquired a Terran Shield Inverter that was "left here", back before we lost spacefaring capabilities. It was able to annihilate an entire fleet at the battle of Mekhios. A single shot from her abaddons retrofit terran shield inverter caused the shields of countless ragnarok class titans to collapse against their hulls, cascading throughout the fleet, until all of the ships were demolished.

That was tech they LEFT here before the gate closed.

Sadly you are correct, and I missed that part. Though it does almost match up completely, and goes inline with empire expansion through building gates which will be possible.

So I can fly a Carrier into a massive battle in Eve, launch myself into a fighter via Valkyrie taking out enemy frigates and fighters and drones and such, and then bore into an enemy ship and kill stuff on the inside in Dust causing said enemy ship to become an easier kill in Eve? All in real time while protecting the construction site of a new gate? Smile

3/4ths of that trailer will never hit EVE, the other fourth will be halfway thrown together in a mess that will take years to undo and work as a somewhat feasible system with tons of bugs and glitches.

A taste of Terran technology, at the end of the trailer, you will see Jamyl I arriving to end the advancing Tribal fleet at the battle of Mekhios, in Sarum Prime.

Utilizing her retrofit abaddons terran shield inverter she wipes out the entire Elder's capital fleet in one strike:
