I really like the new way EVE online will be developed. I think that 2 expansion per year were limiting the potential of the featuers that were getting out. So i opened this thread maybe for question directed to CCP Seagul for a future devblog that will explain a bit more in detail the new way of developing EVE.

Well i got some questions for sure.
What will be with the visuals when we start our clients?
Will we have themed and named develop cycles btw fanfests?
What about the future Trailers? I think lot of people will miss them.

I wonder how they will name their expansion now that there is 10 of them per year , i feel that after 1 or 2 years the names will start to get a bit silly because they don't have any more ideas .

First a ?greek? gods. After that maybe Tropical Cyclone Names.

I d like it to be something like this

Themed and named develop cycles.
For example this one could be named and called for example "Industry" (ofc some fancier name would be in place). Every point release can be called Industry: Alpha, Beta etc... All the splash screens and trailers can be about industry. Whenever CCP feels that cycle can end names another develop cycle "Corporation and Alliances" and so on every point release start with Alpha, Beta again. Splash screens and trailers would be themed about corps and alliances.

Every cycle should not be limited by time. One could be long 1-2 years another 6 months etc. But it would be nice to round it under one name/cycle.

Non industry features ofc could be put under industry cycle as long the core features are about industry and so on for other cycles.

This is what I would think, Instead of doing a new name every month they would have Industry changes that will take up 4 expansion cycles be under the name "Rhea". So it would be Rhea 1.0, Rhea 2.0, etc, or as you said Rhea Alpha, Rhea Beta, Rhea Gamma, Rhea Delta.

Having a new name every time would get silly after a while and hard to keep up with.

I doubt very much CCP's intention of releasing 10 expansions a year. What I suspect is that they will relase 10 "patches" a year and call them "expansions" thus allowing CCP to release even less content.

More "carrot on stick" promises for the players.

Sounds about right. Bug fixes are getting expansion names now.

CCP Seagul has less forum posts then most people have fingers. Don't expect much feedback from that direction.

They actually have MORE time for features with this release schedule. If a feature takes 8 months to get right then before they'd have to either rush it to get it done for the mid-year expansion, or finish it and have it sit around for several months until the next expansion. Now they take however much time is needed, and when it's done it might sit for a few weeks before the next big release, during which time they can release dev blogs and get player feedback for last minute changes.

I think that's also why they don't want to link the naming schemes for releases (Industry Alpha, Industry Beta, etc.) Because the releases are supposed to allow them to release what they want when they need to release it, rather than having to plan for future releases and stick to an arbitrary time frame (so basically themed releases would go back to the 6-month expansion system they're trying to get away from, just spread out several times across those 6 months.)

10 expansions / patches are nothing more than shipping dates it just allow them to ship small crap first while doing some 9month huge project without need to cramp it in 6month release schedule.

ie shipping when ready with constant sprinkle of fixes and cheap but working add on s
