What (if any) are the base items used in ammo and ship invention?

There are no base items for ship invention.

For ammo invention, you can buy faction ammo. It may or may not be worth more than the change in success rate is worth.

Ok thanks. I'd have to use a group of 100 Faction ammos for each job, then?
