This is not a repeat thread. No other thread in General Discussion talks JUST about the Prospect. And as this is on the live server, it DOES NOT belong in the future ideas section. This is a thread discussing something that is currently in the game.

Anyways, as many have seen today, someone found the Prospect frigate blueprint on the live server today. It's not on the market, but if you type Prospect into a chat box, highlight it, and auto link it to an item, it will link to a Prospect blueprint

Seen here: http://i.imgur.com/2dp73Mh.jpg

If you click on the Prospect item that the blueprint creates and view the ship, you see this:

As the next expansion is to focus on industry, and the new character selection screen shows Venture's with 3 lasers, one can assume that there will either be changes to the Venture, or a new T2 version of the Venture will be released. This is where the Prospect comes in. I don't know if it was intentional for the blueprint to be in early or not, but I think it's safe to say that this is an upcoming ship.

The strange thing about the ship is that instead of the ore cargo containers that run along all of the Mining Barges/Exhumers, there are rotating pods on the sides of the ship, shown here:

http://i.imgur.com/ZpSLc9U.jpg

Could these be gas pods, meaning the mew ship will focus on gas harvesting? Seems strange that CCP would only make a strictly gas bonused version of the Venture and not an asteroid harvesting version.

Can any Dev offer confirmation on this ship, or any information about why it's already on Tranquility?

There will be an announcement about new ships at Fanfest. Probably at a keynote.

This isn't the first instance of a 3 mining laser Venture. They first appeared in the Retribution expansion trailer.

So, they've been "around" for some time. It isn't anything new.

as a space scientist i can confirm that spinny bits are very high-tech and expensive

the mnu generators are off the front and replaced with space spoilers which make the ship go faster

the prospect is black which makes it mysterious. it features both green AND red speed stripes which mean the ship will be very speedy indeed

finally there are more lights which when combined with the removal of the gas supply and the battery mean that the ship will consume battery power at a faster rate and will only last three centuries in space MAX which is a huge nerf to highsec

needless to say this is an outrage and the csm can expect an angry letter

No no ... space spoilers improve agility and acceleration not make the ship go faster ... that would be silly.

It has the same ship description as the Venture, but missing the Traits tab. It has the same armaments as the Venture too.

I'll quote the desc anyway:
Prospect description wrote:
Development
Recognizing the dire need for a ship capable of fast operation in unsafe territories, ORE created the Venture. It was conceived as a vessel primed and ready for any capsuleer, no matter how new to the dangers of New Eden they might be, who wishes to engage in the respectable trade of mining.

The Venture has amazing abilities to quickly drill through to the ores and gases it's after, harvesting them at the speed necessary for mining in hostile space, and getting out relatively unscathed.
Good find, too bad it isn't used or have any roll.

Not good enough. 10 years in I expect all new ships to be jump capable, no matter how small. P

If CCP really wants to bust open this game in terms of where and how people travel, then more jump capable ships is the way forward.

Fun times as the Null Bears actually have to patrol all the space they claim... and people too lazy to take precautions while ninja-mining in "someone else's space" will still get blown up. It's all good.

Insider sources (tm) have confirmed that in addition to increased minning and gas harvesting bonuses, the prospect can fit a covops cloak, is interdiction nullified, and has +3 warp strength.

Speak for yourself, Doc. A fair number of Eve players probably would pester him during his "special" time.
