I asked this on the test server thread and it got ignored so trying here:

Starmap system tooltips used to provide a lot of information at a glance. Now that information has been eliminated and we'll have to juggle a bunch of filters, show info windows and agent finder to find it. It's not as big of a deal as we can simply switch to dotlan for at a glance info like that.

However, there is one piece of crucial information which was not available anywhere else. It is a list of corporations that own an office in any particular station. For many corporations needing to find a new home (with the upcoming industry changes) this information is critical. It is gone now and the pilots will be forced to fly manually to every single station they're considering to find out who owns offices there and if there are any available. Even Dotlan does not provides that information.

My question is "Why did CCP remove our ability to see offices remotely?"
Did CCP consciously remove our ability to see it? Will it be provided with a different method? Did you guys forget about that aspect of the tooltip? If so when can we expect to have it back? Hopefully well ahead of industry changes.

Thank you for your anticipated response.

Niko

Is there any way to turn off tooltips?

The last thing i need its a great big ******* black box that repeats the exact same into to me as anything im hovering over.

So stupid.

Also, hover over a gate cluster in space and it highlights a customs office before the gate. Thanks CCP. Badly implemented good idea as usual.

Please allow us to disable tooltips across overview, space and elsewhere. Tooltips are useful for new users and new features, but once you know the content, they are distracting and can get in the way of clicking.

Other than that, good patch this time.

The new tooltips are nice, but for heavens sake get them off my objects in space!! If they are going to stay on objects in space, they have to be instantaneous. And please, please give me the option to DISABLE ALL TOOLTIPS if I feel like it.

I can't help but notice that in the rush to push out such a wonderful patch, somebody accidentally forgot to add the option to disable the unnecessary, distracting and obstructive tooltips.

They're on by default? Wonderful. That's not a problem. But laggy and unnecessary windows that block vision and functionality have no reason to not be toggleable.

I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.

Yes there are tags everywhere and very unnecesary imo. The thing that was usefull instead has been diminished as in the overview is harder to see which targets are looked. There are still the white marks but much smaller. I really dont see the point of that.

What did you say about CODE?

Plus I just notticed also in overview the wrecks now dont tell if they are big, small or medium. I dont think I really need as I have created wrecks enaugh to almost know them all but still... why taking away usefull things to give us back ridiculously big unnecesary information. We know a stargate is a stargate... really?

I don't like posting in forums, so please tell me there is a way to toggle these boxes. I know someone above asked and it is a bit jarring after awhile. I can't argue it's not a good addition for new players, but even after awhile they'll be like, "Yeah, I know what you do, button..."

Ok, is clear that the tooltips, especially in the overview are very bad and annoying for PvP.
It's a feature for new players, we know. But please give us the chance to turn off. It's completely useless to know that a station is a station, or that a frigate is a frigate.

It's orrible when you have to lock a target in PvP and when you have to use dscan. Pirate

hey devs out there.... like you and us any other human out there can read and manage to understand basic stuff.... no need to take everybody by hand....
and if it´s really necesseary to make some improvements wich manipulate totaly regular settings of the interface then make this **** optional!!!

having all this hud/ui/icon changes... is it really that hard to give either the Regular or Cov Cyno a different Icons? to distinguish the difference between the two?

How to remove or turn off the tooltips? It's very irritating.

Where is the options to turn it off?

So tool tips... the comments above voice my opinion about it well enough.

Now to voice my confusion:
I looked at my HUD, saw the options, clicked it, unchecked display module tool tips, and the mods didn't have tool tips anymore. There was obviously some smart programmer somewhere who created the code for tool tips (useful ones) and found a way to make it a toggle. This has been part of the game for a long time now. Why not use that same code and apply it to the rest of your tool tips?

Now for the Constructive portion:
1. As everyone before me said, make the tool tips a toggle (experienced players don't need it).
2. Use the code you have. It is there I see it in play every day.
3. Consider adding a delay function to tool tip "spawn time" or something. (modules have a nice delay, things you hover over in space should have no delay
4. Add information that isn't obvious to the tool tip, or informational.
5. Make certain tool tips independent from others (modules, eve neocom icons, overview, spacial, selected item, etc.)

Tool tips should be informative not redundant. If I am curious about what something means or does (like my modules on my ship) I hover over it for at least 3 seconds, then it tells me what it is. If I know what something is I keep my mouse on it for only a few seconds as I am using it hence why I am frustrated with the instant pop up. This is only amplified when I hover over the system name in the Factional Warfare Overview and it tells me Vard, level V, 7 jumps away system is 19.8% contested. This information is clearly stated in all the tabs next to the system name. If the information is already presented on screen it should not be in the tool tip.

but yeah, after my rage atleast now I discovered the moseoverdropdownmenuthing wich is pretty nice!
Thanks for this Big smile
.....
still vote for OPTIONAL tooltips and generall optional UI changes
I fell in love with this because it looks like a PC game in definiton, not just like a Videogame Cool
so please don´t make to much of those "improvements" please

I'm wondering why there is no option to turn it off??!! You make something which some of the ppl and skilled player don't like. it's normal to have options.

In this point of view why the hell you made an Audio Enabled select button???? For what? to turn off/on music?! Just remove it.
