Or has anyone else wondered why there are SO many lights on the ships that only have 1 capsuleer in them? This is terrible energy efficiency, so let's turn them all off and see if we can get some more PG!

pretty sure the ships have more than one person in them, they are just commanded by immortal space wizards

Immoral maybe... If there's anyone else then they must be faulty clones!

Right I'm not a lore/RPer guy. But the pod is a bit confusing. On one hand we're told you sit in the pod and control the ship...on the other CCP puts out videos giving the impression that were not...The community sais that Ships have multiple crew members, =\ i have no idea.

The ships have crew except for shuttles and some frigates.

There is a table that contains the numbers and the larger the ship, the more crew going up to many thousand on some ships.

The crew are not immortal.

i like to try to imagine the speech given by the captains of the destroyers for burn jita.

" THAT BOYS IS OUR TARGET, PREPAIR YE GUNS"

"but the police are right there, if we do this we will die! and for what???"

"FOR THE LAUGHS AND GOOD CHEER YE MATES, ONWARD!!!"

that was my bad attempt at a pirate

I'm wondering whether we'll be allowed to pick our crew? I'm voting for large numbers of ladies.....

In my opinion, those lights are mostly sensor arrays and shield projectors anyway.
Hard to explain the relative sizes and size differences otherwise, I think.

Of course they could be, but.. what would you need lights for?

IIRC...

- all ships have crews
- pod pilots simply reduce the necessary crew by literally "becoming" the ship (via a neural uplink in the "pod" itself).
- in "becoming" the ship the pod pilot can directly control various ship systems.
- with direct control to all ship systems the need for "officers" or a command crew is redundant... leaving only maintenance, damage control, and oversight people to keep things running smoothly.
- life is cheap in New Eden. No one sheds a tear if a battleship full of 6314 crew is wiped out.

...which would inevitably lead to a situation developing where the ship captains wouldn't care, and would take hyper-extreme levels of risk involving the rest of the crew, not caring about the consequences, as death would mean nothing to the pilot-captain.

Frankly, I wouldn't board such a ship. I'd fear the captain might just throw my life away! Twisted

there are crews.

Crews. Your ship has a crew. Smaller than a non pod pilot crew, but it's there.

Also you're a twit

O tempora o mores!
