How do you think CCP is approaching the next expansion?

I'm not really sure. I'm a little too new to really make suggestions for new content. But, as a new player, I can say that EVE is a little intimidating for new players. A more gentle starting tutorial would be a good idea. Using the approach of "Easy to learn, hard to master" always works for me.

Null needs a expansion of its own to fix.

This is true. Unfortunately, CCP realizes that they have to protect their existing player base, which is mostly retired to powerblock alliances in 0.0. My sense is that some devs would like to solve the power projection problem in 0.0, but if they reduce capital jump range, or limit the mass through a cyno, they will **** off the old base of players.

During the game design panel today at Fanfest, Fozzie made the argument that because PL leadership is against the cap fuel use changes, that it will change how that alliance plays the game. This is obviously a ridiculous argument, because we all know that successful people lobby against changes that cost them a dime more, and their behavior will not change.

So in a way, CCP are stuck trying to make changes to 0.0 by applying economic incentives, instead of having fiat rule changes and we're stuck with the status quo.

EVE doesn't need a huge game changer, it needs to be repaired so its running at optimal performance, then they can add new stuff...

We are rapidly approaching the middle of the year 2014. The game we have right now is the result of a decade of repair, and more or less by definition *is* running at optimal performance...

I do not know what game you think you are playing, but as someone who has been in eve since near the begining, i can tell you that you honestly have no idea what you are talking about. I can list, off the top of my head fifteen things that are, by most peoples standard, broken or unfinshed....

That was my point. What you consider needed fixing (and it's a good list) is not something CCP is interested in doing. The fixing they have done for more than a decade has given us the game we have.

What you're asking is that they drop the development path they're on to work on your pet issues. It's perfectly reasonable to want those things, but this is not the game company you're looking for.

There is some good stuff I see but to many nerfs that I don't understand.

I'm obviously a new player so I can't attest to the rich history of disappointment you veterans are always citing. I see EVE as something entirely unique to gaming in general, and I really think if it was squandered it would be a tragedy. I've noticed that when CCP is mentioned in a thread its quickly followed by some snide quips that may be entirely justified, but the negativity stings me a little because even as a 10 year old title I still see so much promise in it, and that in itself makes it uniquely wonderful in a way. Not to say as a subscription title your voices aren't relevant and your complaints aren't necessary in shaping it.

How adorable! Don't worry. The bitterness will come in time. P
