You are correct all of this is highsec's fault.

not happy with just working towards ruining eve, hisec takes it a step further and ruins the internet

And you guys thought you were good at gaming Smile

We would take America completely, but, well, we just don't want the hassle of dealing with cranks like the NRA to be honest.

They just do not have the right carebear attitude for hi-sec.

It may affect download speeds, if ISPs decide to throttle services such as Steam. I don't see them attacking CCP's servers in particular but it's possible.

However, playing an online game requires very little bandwidth (<1 Mb) so you shouldn't see any latency issues from it. Unless they decide to be real dicks and specifically target gaming servers.

Yes, this seems like a crap deal.

I doubt EvE pulls enough bandwith accross the US to actually have a providor throttle it down. Companies like You Tube, NetFlix, Amazon, etc. that pull huge quantities of bandwith. I doubt EvE will be affected (at least in the near term).

That depends on what the 3-4 internet providers (many place only 1 of which si available as a choice to ahve) decide arbitrarily what an excessive bandwidth pull is.

Mention the word Socialism to any american and theyll call you a commie-loving Nazi who wants to take away their guns and freedoms.

Americans seem to have this idea that a change in government policy in one instance means the whole system will convert, in this case the government cracking down on the rich monopolies gouging the economy. the large companies have brainwashed the masses into thinking if the government comes after them, the poor will be next and it will turn into the fourth reich.

It's cute that people thought that ever existed when in most places you have pretty much only one or two options for broadband internet.

ISPs (particularly Comcast) are monopolistic and it's getting to be absolutely ******* ridiculous and I'm going to end this post before I get too angry.

What with the internet monopolies and messed up health care system, you American folks really do have my sympathies, sometimes it's like you live in a 3rd world country.

Here in the UK, we have bodies set up specifically to stop all this crap happening with monopolies, and to make sure an open and competitive market will always exist in all areas not just for internet, but utilities too.

Monopolies are bad Mkay America.

If someone from the UK is telling you, that you are living in a 3rd world country, it must be really bad. People from the real Europe look at the UK as a 3rd world country.

Yes, there is absolutely no corruption, greed or the quest to monopolize power at all in any form of Government....

As to the topic:

So, to get this right, if a gaming company refuses to pay the toll charges, they get throttled back, nerds rage quit and go outside?

Down side to this again?

My favorite part is how net neutrality was a plank on Obummer's 2007 platform, and if I cared to look, probably his 2012 one too.

Principle? Whats that? The election is over - now Obama has Democratic corporate campaign donors to suck off.

The hipster CEOs in Silicon Valley, General Electric, the entire faux industry built around 'green energy', the large Wall Street banks, the health insurance industry, the new emerging homo-fascist lobby....thats a lot of penises!

So don't blame Obama when he can't even give the little guy lip service. His lips are busy.

It shouldn't have much impact...since if it can be proven that a provider is picking a winner between two rival business gaming companies the law suits would soon cripple the provider - I expect they will try to be reasonable in their handling of disparate gaming communities.
