Worth it?



Flying a Rokh, and wondering if i should run some small ecm drones with my Hornet IIs.

The only interesting use I can think of is to jam a scrambling frigate if you need to warp out… And I'm not even sure it works on mission rats ;)

You'd better keep spare light drones, or carry 5x warriors for Angel missions.

ECM drones definitely work on spider drones, so I'm sure they work on normal scramming frigs as well. Whether they're worth it in missions: I'd say no. Unless you're doing exploration sites in low or null, I wouldn't bother with ECM drones.

The amount of incoming DPS you're reducing by having your ECM drones (attempt) to jam out one NPC out of the hordes of them just isn't worth it when you may as well do DPS to kill them faster.

The one reasonable usage for ECM drones I can think of is the Vengeance lvl4 mission, if your damage projection is weak and your speed makes it impossible to catch-up with the final rat.

If the ECM drones manage a successful jam, the rat will target them and thus dance in a circle in a vain effort to hit them, which makes it possible for you to catch-up and lay waste.

Don't use ECM drones on any NPC that shoots back. The NPC will get jammed and re-target the closest thing... the ECM drones.

I wouldn't use them on NPC.

As mentioned, they do have a place in lowsec plexs for killing annoying ships that happen to also be triggers (spider drones) if you're trying to kite.

I'm more surprised you're using a Rokh in missions. I have heard bad things about that ship for PvE but still have always wanted to try one.

Are you running 4's in t(i assume you are but still need to ask)?

Is it working well?

I have always used a SNI for mine and have been pretty happy but would be nice to try a gun boat (of the Caldari line) in a level 4.

If it's not too much trouble, and if you're willing would you mind posting your fit for level 4's?

While agreeing with all of the above,

ECM drones makes for great chaff to throw at sleepers if you need to distract them for whatever reason - sleepers seem to hate ECM drones with a vengeance and in any case, ECM drones are something which can be handy for other reasons while flying around a wormhole. Mind you it won't give you a lot of time before the drones go pop, but hey a few seconds at the right time can be quite useful.
