Alternative to banning players...

I believe that the worst punishment is being shadow banned,
like it's done on reddit.

For the poster nothing changes,
except that people will not respond to his posts
and no Likes will be received,
because his posts don't actually get displayed.

Only he sees his posts in the thread, nobody else.

That's punishment, because he has no idea that he is shadow banned,
but he believes society ignores him completely.

Well, actually you would be imprisoned in a dungeon. The only outside contact would be maybe a GM come in and taunt you, telling you how much time you had left to serve. That was early UO.

I like my idea better :D To make it more intresting it would run like this

200km X 200km caged area would be put in the center of Jita. The only thing in the caged area would be astroids. Only ship available to the punished would be noob ships. The only way out is to mine 100M M3 of veldspar using nothing but the 1 civilian mining laser provided. No civilian weapon systems allowed. If you were caught cheating by using bots you would never have the chance to get out.

Now that would be real punishment :D

Think about the kind of person you have to be to get a permanent ban from a game like Eve Online. Think about the sheer amount of freedom allotted to you in contrast to any other MMO.

Do you want to play with that person?

Nice idea.

To expand on it a little, you could force them to solve a simple puzzle every 30 seconds to ensure they don't go AFK/bot. Failure to solve the puzzle will turn them suspect and an announcement will be broadcasted in Jita alerting everyone that they're a free kill. Of course, if their mining noobship dies, they have to start over.
