Will Valkyrie kill EVE?

If Valkyie is a big hit (which i suspect it will be), will it kill EVE?

Or is the longterm plan to make Valkyrie, EVE 2.0?

If all the sandbox elements of EVE are transferred to Valk, it may.

Your thoughts?

Isnt valkyrie just a sort of FPS or FPSSS (First Person SpaceShip Shooter) game?
How is this in any way comparable to EVE?

That is how it's being advertised, but I suspect it will be much bigger than that.

When your local grocery store advertises that you can get 2 apples for the price of 1, do you also come in suspecting youl get even more than that?

If thats the case, youl be dissappointed, advertisements advertise one thing, not something else.
There is absolutely no reason to think Valkyrie will be more than what it is, Im not saying its not possible, EVE is also alot more than it was when it was released. But to think Valkyrie will take over the role of EVE is absurd.

I don't think so, Valkyrie will probably attract a number of EVE Online players as Dust 514 did as it has its own appeal, but in essence it's a different game. If the EVE Online players wanted to switch entirely kind of games then they would do so. That's not the case, since you are bringing up one kind of game with another that is different.

Valkyrie is a gimmick to sell Oculus. Facebook bought Oculus as a gimmick to sell 3D cameras so that people can share 3D images and video of their kids as a gimmick for giving people a reason to continue using Facebook. While the idea of facebook owning the oculus is not exactly great it does mean that there is a lot less chance I might buy one and ONLY ever use it for Valkyrie.

However Eve could not run in the same server style as Valkyrie owing to the 1hz server tick,

If you've never tried PvP in EvE it's quite possible you've missed out on one of the greatest rushes available in modern gaming.
