Why not invest more emphasis on standings? Reward those that have spent hours grinding standings. After all the corp they have the high standings with should be appreciative of their service.

Make specail corp/faction stations that require 9.9 or better to dock.

Allow anchoring os POSes in 1.0 systems if your corp standings are 9+.

Make special mission agents only accessable to high standings players.

Create faction/corp standings rankings to showcase faction/corp members.

I am not asking that CCP stop making changes to the game. I am asking that you stop allowing people to waste time doing things you know will be useless when you know it right now!

The you should ask CCP to remove standings as fast as possible. It's always been a stupid game mechanic in any game with no useful purpose, even more so in a game like EVE.

If CCP was actually removing all standings I think the POS-business folks would feel a lot less singled out (I know I would). I'm not that sad to see the mechanic go. But if it's a sufficiently sucky mechanic that it justifies killing the associated sandbox play that grew around dealing with it, particularly when high unmodified faction standings have almost NO OTHER BENEFIT to those people who acquired it, then the entire faction and corp standing mechanic should just be ripped out for everyone and everything all at once.

Also, no one is helping their cause in these threads by conflating unmodified faction standings with regular old corp standings. Those ignorant of the differences (and the downsides and issues unique to faction standing) have been throwing out some really inane arguments with regard to jumpclones and whatnot. The ONLY other place faction standings are useful are for those traders who are trying to push their market tax to the very extreme under 0.50% or so. Most traders can get by just fine with the dominant corp standing term in that equation unless they are really chasing super-tight margins (which seems mostly to be the PLEX traders as far as I can tell, but I'm a market-newb).

Faction standings are old junky things the best thing they could do is remove or make them related to FW. They are a hideous pain to manipulate and they don't really promote any interesting game play. Of course this would have to be tied in with a highsec nerf for balance.

How about if standings influenced Concord response time?

My point, for those that missed it, is that not every single thing we spend time or money on in our lives is an investment or a risk. Spending isk, money, or time does not necessarily imply investment or risk.

For those that disagree with this one simple point, I fart in your general direction. P

Sorry for the late response, still have to make money the old fashioned way in RL.

My definition of Risk differs from yours probably because you think undocking a 100 mil ship and engaging in combat is a risky thing, My version of Risk involves investing 200 to 400 billion ISK in a venture that is tied to my long grind and hard earned faction standings.

So I am sure your concept of Risk is of great import to you, I feel we are not talking about the same level of Risk vs Reward.

I feel for the ones who grinded for standings. They did all this work.... I'm not sure I like the abilty to achor a POS in h-sec in general even now, let alone without standings so....

But I would also like to point out that the benefits have been there. As long as this expansion is not in effect, the benefits of high standings are being reaped. It was (and for now is) NOT useless.

I'd suggest making a choice: Dealing with it and start planning your game around the new lack of standings-requirement or become a "standings dinosaur" and die out.

I am very sad about this change.

I believe it's not the right course for CCP to take. It's disappointing for all those who did The Grind
and I can't really stop feeling bad about this. Sure, all you lazy asses will be happy about this change
making it easier for people to plant POS at every moon.

You will also be happy about being wardecced by RvB, who will definitely try to take at least all
the moons around their bases near Jita, which are Otela and Liekuri.

I, personally, can not agree to this. Sure, having POS around Jita wiped out makes it harder for gankers
around these systems to field their ships (You know who you are), but they can simply restock at
the stations so it's not really helpfull.

What definitely disturbs me is the loss of gameplay. It removes a big incentive to run missions and what we
need is mission runners. I myself was looking forward to grinding through distribution missions
to reach 8.0 so I can plant a POS to call it home.

BUT no..... CCP decides to not let me have my dream of killing NPCs to not only make me feel better
about myself (I'm an awesome pirate killer!!!), but they also removed the feeling of success you get
when you work for building a home.

It is a sad day indeed that we are losing a significant portion of the playerbase. Those who, like me,
loved to mindlessly grind through waves after waves after waves after yawn of NPCs for hours
and hours and itching of running missions so we can be proud of the fact that we have legitimized
ourselves in the eyes of the empires to be allowed to build ourselves something we would have
proudfully and rightfully, visible for everyone to see ...

........... yawn ............

A home!

I hope they're not just removing standings. Maybe just remove them from unrelated services as prerequisites and instead add a slew of options and consequences for those that want to go through the effort of grinding up standings with corporations and factions. Never liked that faction standing supersedes corporation standing in every way, they're two different beasts playing in different leagues and their effect both in benefits and consequences should reflect that. CCP could develop a whole feature out of it.
