I want to start by saying that this isn’t intended to be a troll post – I wanted to setup a poll but there doesn’t appear to be the facility to do it.

The Summer Expansion approaches and imho, the endless ship rebalancing program and the “Building better Worlds” announcement is all very nice, but does anyone else feel the frustration and want something new? – some actual new content?

I agree that some things need fixing… but if you could have some brand new content what would it be?

As a builder I would personally like to see:
Idea Player built gun platforms for defending destructible outposts.
Idea Player built stargates.
Idea Player built gun platforms for defending player built stargates.
Idea A choice of damage types for fighters per race.
Idea A choice of damage types for fighter bombers per race.
Idea Add a 3rd fighter type, i.e. fighter bombers that fire bombs and fighter craft that fire missiles.
Idea Another empire besides Amarr, Cal, Gal & Min… maybe one of the ancient races or the Jove, and not just the odd incursion.
Idea A new set of regions.
Idea Other classes of T3 ship… why are there just cruisers?
Idea Solar (sun) harvesters – for new building materials.
Idea Point defenses (a group of auto-targeting missiles maybe) for titans at the expense of a Hi slot.

... you get the idea,
...so, What would keep you playing for another 10 years?

============================================================================================

"Get rid of the ridiculous overpowered ECM which fully cripples down ones ship for the full duration of a fight; nerf the ridiculous overpowered ECM down"

...then a player like me would very likely keep playing EVE for the next 10 years (& beyond?) also.

At present I have 2x accounts, both skill training (both having real good skills already)...but, when I consider logging in I ask myself? Why should I logg in? What entertaining things am I gonna go? ...since (battle focussed as I am) I would like to play in low sec or nul-sec, going for the entertaining fights(!) But at present, my many high value ships (which I can easily afford & are willing to burn in fights, as long it is in an entertaining ways/fights)..would be easily totally crippled down by some cheap 20 mil ECM-Cruiser (or even frigates .....) for the full duration of the fight: one cannot even shoot back in such fights(!??). In fact, this represents the very only critisism I have since as in a total I opine EVE is (& could stay) the most fascinating SciFi game there is(!) And if the ECM is severly nerfed than we would see many more new players realy getting enthousiastic about keep playing EVE for the many years to come (..but what players do we see at present being logged in, generally speaking: most are 1st-hour players having 10 to 18 accounts for ISK grindings simultanuously...so, where are the new players, coming in for the real entertainment that EVE could certainly provide when ECM will be nerfed(?) ...)

Besides the above, in my opinion many MMO-players play more than 1 MMO: I myself am subscriber to playing 2 MMO's which I like the most: EVE + SWTOR. So, those players are capable enough to easily detect some extraordinary game- mechanic, realy to be nerfed.

So, my opinion, EVE could be far greater (incl. attracting far more new players) and more interesting for many when they would decide to nerf ECM down severely.

Last: seems lots of veteran players see playing EVE as " doing working hours" ...doing the many ISK grindings for free, almost mechanically. My question: what happened to "FUN & ENTERTAINMENT" commonly known & accepted as the most important reason for gamers to playing MMO's.

In short: I very much like EVE as a total package (great graphics, excellent game mechanics & even having great forums & players community etc.). My only real criticism: get rid of the ridicilous overpowerd ECM.Ugh

Actually, quite the same as the last 10.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Space being space and not a bunch of rooms linked together by imaginary hoses. And all that space be useable, explore-able, or even just freaking empty, and let players fill it up with all of our own non-sense and space business.

More pve opportunity for skilled players in highsec. I have spent years in nul and sometimes when I get tired of the nulsec grind(like now) I spend time in highsec running solo. Only trouble is lvl IVs are just not challenging enough. I think nulsec life is great and well rounded but highsec difficulty needs to be expanded.
Why there is an unwritten rule that everything difficult needs to be in nul is beyond me.

Might I suggest wormholes?

Wormholes are great. Lowsec is great. They are their own experiences. Highsec is lacking.

The price of greater safety, I suppose.

yes, penalizing different play styles. Why not make room for ALL playstyles? Criminies sake I've been playing this game for five years. Why not have as many varied experiences as possible?

Because less risk = less reward, or it should.

Highsec does have incursions, after all. But I imagine you're talking about solo PvE encounters, yes?

I'm talking about making more difficult sites in highsec. Difficulty obviously means less safety. Yes incursions are great and very dangerous but the pay is crap unless you use a large group. So essentially they're forcing you to play it safe in order to make money.

Can't speak for him, but for me no, not solo. Something that requires a group while not being quite so limited in responsiveness to the way players respond would be nice. But that's not going to be quick in coming I'm sure.

Though, why does new PvE somehow = greater reward to you? Doesn't even seem that was what was asked for. Or do you consider enjoyment reward that highsec shouldn't have?

They're rather similar to high class wormhole content, from my understanding of it. It's not intended to be solo content, the difficulty rating is high enough that self sufficiency is not really part of the equation. (Not saying it can't be done, of course, but that it's intended as group content)

What you're saying is "I want better AI, smarter rats to kill".

So do I. So do most of us. But as you said, that will be a long time coming. PvE in almost any MMO setting is not particularly advanced, that's just the nature of the beast.

But would it be really nice to fight these NPC pirates like they were at least something closer to real players, instead of 50 red crosses to get beaten by one guy? Yeah. It would also be amazing if there weren't quite so much difference between PvE and PvP fittings, too.

To be honest, I'm really hoping that this was part of the research on content creation tools mentioned in the most recent CSM minutes, and that it's not just a new means of randomizing waves of the same old NPC's.

But yeah, you've pretty much summed up my desires of PvE, and while I think it can be adapted to solo, I think it works better in groups and should lean that direction.

Yes... I mean don't change anything too dramatically. If CCP continues the slow evolution and listens to their players, I will stick around for the foreseeable future.

I actually Love the game. I don't say that because of the core game mechanics which many have issues with, but because of the people I have had the pleasure of meeting over the years, friend and foe alike, from all over the world(ChinaCry)

Eve is also the only game I have had any true emotional investment in. I will not confirm or deny that my eyes may have almost watered at losing my first "shouldn't have flown what I couldn't afford to lose" ship, or how exciting that first kill was. Ah well, that's just me I suppose. I am sure some of you need to get back to getting your next prestige level on your favorite recycled FPS. (I did not actually read many of you guys comments till to day, and someone mentioned prestige mode. Thats funny!)

BTW, can I haz all your stuff?P

Confirmed.
Badly balanced gameplay full of griefers and scammers.
Broken mechanics.
Crap leveling system.
You think grinding to plex an account and two alts is hard, wait for the wife/partner and two kids.
More grinding than eve could ever put you through.
Way more idiots, that you have to put up with.

The graphics are stunning though, so there's that.
