New Warp Effect

The warp effect is fabulous, maybe could do with starting sooner so that you don't clip through stations etc.?

Also, any chance ships warping off could leave a trail on grid? Perhaps a line of warp effect that lasts a couple of seconds?

Seriously, I've just been warping all over the place and enjoying the effect, particularly impressive against a bright nebula or around (or through) planets Big smile

id also have to say this is amazing! beautiful work guys! especially love the light refraction of stars etc.. from the warp distortion =)
the warping through planet effect will go a very very very long way to KEEPING immersion throughout the game!

Absolutely gorgeous!

one gripe tho that ive filled a bug report on, is only on some warping to-and-from's, is that once ur about to exit warping, the tunnel comes back for almost a second! then disappears again.

Thanks, we all appreciate your feedback very much!

The warp effect coming returning for a split second after warp should be fixed internally if I recall correctly. Let us know if it isn’t fixed after the next Singularity update.

Sadly the granularity of a 'passing through' effect for stations and small objects wouldn’t really be feasible to implement as you would only spend a millisecond or two inside one, the planets are large enough that the effect makes sense.

I've filed bug reports for some glitches I've had with the new warp.

Bug report numbers are: 118620 and 118659. There was an instance where the warp effect wouldn't display properly. (No distortion effect, and the sun doesn't become occluded when an object is in front of it.) Also, entering and exiting the star map while in warp will make your ship disappear.

The effect is pretty great! I like it a lot. Smile

Just to make things strange, I have made a safespot inside a planet... Warping there is strange, once you get there the warp tunnel suddenly vanishes and you can see he stars around you without problems (as on tq now).

But in normal situation the warp tunnel is nice, and warping through planets make more sense now.

Hey , the new effet is amazing. but i have to ask, and I really do hope for an honest CCP answer.

What happened to the red blue ****? It's always been part of eve and an impressive little detail that could easily be in this current effect.

The idea that you're moving so fast the past and present spectrum are in view is awesome. keep it in?

Yeah, it would be great if we could get the Doppler effect in this new warp tunnel as well. Smile

The fact it's missing is a defect that we're currently working on, expect to see it back soon!

I agree the old red/blue shift effect and I mean the really old effect was quite awesome, the doppler effect we now have on TQ is a bit modest.

- Shield Hardener effects disappear for me during warp (and reappear once ship drops out of warp)
- appearance of the warp tunnel effect itself still a bit problematic, similar to TQ (no idea how to trigger it)
- missing red/blue doppler (already adressed if I skimmed correctly)

Looking really good.

Anyone having this problem should BUG REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY. I hate this issue on Tranquility right now and I don't want it popping up ever again.

Why are there no engine trails while in warp? I'd actually prefer to see them there than the rest of the time.

Would also like to see engine trails during warp, seems kinda weird they would just disappear Cry

I really like the new effect only one thing I would change the lightning effect is so fast that you can hardly see it I would make about 3 times slower would make it look at lot more awesome =D
and I also agree on making the red/blue shift effect a bit stronger and maybe a bit bigger too so it is not just at both ends of the warp tunnel but also extents a bit to the sides of the warp tunnel

Noticed there are issues with warping though stars with this. Any plans on a fix?

No, I think it is great like this; It clearly shows when you are running the warp drive and when under "impulse power".

All it really needs now is a fine effect when warping through large physical objects (especially the common scenario where you undock and then warp to a gate/celestial that is behind the station you just undocked from - the most lame bit of EVE spaceflight there is) and ensuring the local star effect doesn't look broken when going trough planets.
