Tom of Finland gets his own post mark:
From Helsingin Sanomat in Finnish:
http://www.hs.fi/sunnuntai/Homoikoni+Tom+of+Finland+saa+oman+postimerkin/a1397270610121?ref=hs-hitaat-e-1
and from Itella in English:
http://www.itella.fi/group/english/current/2014/20140413_stamps.html

Send that to your prudish cousins at the bible belt next year from your visit Finland. Big smileShocked

Or heck we should send a truck load of these to Putins office. Twisted

Does anyone not gay, and under the age of 40 even know who Tom of Finland is except some Finns ???

Classic stuff indeed, but became less popular after the viral devastation of the gay community in the 80s.

Congratulations......for once. My point exactly. Despite the fact you pose a question in answer to a question. Ugh.

ed: The only equivalent artist I can think of for an American stamp would be Robert Mapplethorpe, but unlike the more liberal Finns, they would be restricted to the flower portraits only.

"The occasion for the latter is a national tribute to the illustrator Touko Laaksonen, better known as Tom of Finland – and one of the best-known Finnish artists in the world – who died in 1991 after a career of gay erotic cartooning, and whose over-the-top look and attitude had an impact on areas of art and pop culture well beyond the leather bar."

Oh wow what a stamp. If they were usable here I would buy a whole box of them so I could use them for years.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

I always found it odd that almost all of his drawn figures have the nearly same facial features...sort of a hyper-masculine look with full lips, high cheekbones, etc.

At least they don't all have big eyes like all those creepy paintings of children. Lol

I've noticed the same thing which aside from line work always tells me whose drawing it is that I'm looking for.
