Lately I have enjoyed watching (what I assume to be) new players as they purchase things.

For example: I list antimatter rounds in units of a 1,000 and place multiple sell orders of these in my home system (enough to fill up the market window) at the lowest price in the region.

Different capsuleers will purchase the rounds in varying amounts, but one person will always come along and buy out everything.

The thing is, each time he or she does it, they buy 1 from every sell order, then come back anywhere from a half hour to a couple hours later and buy out 999.

A few different pilots have done this, so I wonder: is it just the noob factor?

Regardless, it's fun to see the trail they leave behind in my wallet window.

That is a seller of antimatter buying one of each to see who their rival is, then buying all of them up to make their profitable sell orders visible again.

I have been that purchaser (not on antimatter but on other items; most notably Light Neutron Blaster II).

One from each order in the same station?

Yes, from each order in the same station. It seems this person is awfully meticulous, to buy from each and every order in this way.

I am left wondering if the others who do this are alts of the character Sabriz talked about, or if multiple characters are simply curious who was listing rounds of ammo in the manner that I did.

I really am wasting my breath though, when you can avoid questions from Hexxx and RAW23 like that you must have some seriously devoted investors. --Elizabeth Norn

You can't do that. No matter what the cheapest order is bought from, if they are identically priced the order is picked by the date or something.

Even if only one person is selling the item out of the station?

Edit (1): answering my own question. Only one seller shouldn't matter either.

I observed this over a couple of days...was I viewing the data by seller and not by the time stamp? I will check again when I get home from work.

Edit (2): Yep, I was looking at the list as arranged by character, not by time stamp.

I still find the behavior odd. In one instance, the same character followed a pattern of buying first 1 unit, then 999 units, of antimatter rounds a total of seven times over a one minute period.

Just in a hurry?

Regardless, thank you for helping me to interpret the market data correctly.

For a new trader like myself its seeing other people buying my stuff.

Finding the best location for my stock is also fun.

seeing my wallet go up as well is another great thing.
