Imagine you would biomass all your toons + assets today and make complete brandnew restart only with 5000isk. Would you go a different way or would you play again at all? What would change in your rl?

Any veteran who says he would quit the game if required to start over has no right to tell a new player to enjoy playing the game in his present situation.

I look forward to the answers provided by the old vets to your question.

In my RL? nothing at all. I don't see how your proposed event would affect my RL in any way.

Now, to answer the subject of the question. I would, for starters, start with Amarr (master race). I would focus strongly on cruicer and t3 PVE, and wait until I can fly the respective carrier before I start cross training.

How does it differ from what I did? Well, I started with Minmatar with a mix of gallente all the way up to BS, then focused on Amarr with a mix of Caldari up to BS, and continued to improve on all of my fitting skills as well as tanking skills.

All in all, it's been a very ineffective thing, but it's opened pretty much all of the doors for me.

OH, and I would get an exploration alt right away.

EDIT: I realize that 3 years may not be enough to be called a "vet" but whatever. I have an opinion too!

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165

I'd probably focus on pvp more and make indy alts again. I like to try a little of everything and always have been trying new things as i can.

So, nothing would really be different. I would just have a more clear idea what I'm doing.

I do this every time I creat a new pilot. My question would be if I had no support from my other toons would I?

Hmmm would be good time to correct any mistakes that you made in previous history.

This depends on which way you are asking.

1) if I chose to biomass and start over, lets say because I looked at my skills and went '**** I wasted a lot of sp's' Then in this case I would follow the same type of path, but Da would be more industrial. There was a time when I pumped pvp skills into him.. then I realized I suck at pvp and would rather have an alt do that. So not much would change in this scenario

2) If ccp had this 'glorious' reset, i'd prolly be pissed off, but follow the same path.

3) If CCP announced closing eve and launching EvE 2 but we all have to make new chars, and with this everything that is broken in eve is fixed... i'd still follow the same path

of the 3 senarios only the middle one I would be mad about. Not because of the lost SP's but then because it would seem that 10 blood years was for nothing (in the grand scheme is is for nothing, if eve died tomorrow I have nothing to show for the 10 years I spent here, but in my head, as long as Da is here I can say 'see what I wasted 1o years on? =D"

I have made many alts at various times for various reasons, I have helped many noobs and ran the NPE myself several times. so it would not bother me, i'd just be annoyed if it was a forced reset and eve still had broken crap (fix pos' and finish pi and WIS damn it!)

Nothing would change my RL, because EVE has nothing to do with the real world.

No, I would not go a different route. I would still want to PvP.

As for the first part of your question, it would be pointless to biomass my toon when I could sell him and donate all my assets to my corp. Trashing all your assets and ISK, then biomassing is a pretty selfish thing to do to the EVE community. Most of us "bittervets" actually do care about the community, as a whole, even if we don't give a rip about individual players.

I'm going to ask Ramona to repeatedly beat you with an English dictionary, or tell Ma McCandless that you're skipping school again to fly your spaceships Lol

In answer to the OP, if I was to start again I'd explore areas of the game I haven't currently partaken of. I'd also be a lot more focussed in what I trained.

This character can do a lot of things relatively well, but doesn't excel at anything. My skills are all over the place, but will be getting more focussed once I get my newbie alt where I want it to be.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I wouldn't go the same route I went as a noob. I would continue playing the way I currently play.

But I also frequently create new characters and then go do random things with them.

Well...

I guess I would drop Hek.

I guess I would seek out a new part of space.

A part of space suiting my name.

A part of space that isn't yet as crowded.

I guess I would stop using destroyers to pop pods,
because everybody is using them and that bothers me.

I can do with less.

And I would still refuse to use alts to make my game easier.

I would handle the SP system differently.

For example I have an alt that is just under 2M SP and can deliver some heinous DPS with a battle cruiser simple because of proper skill planning. This is not something I did back in 2006 when I started, and it was years before I could fly anything larger than a frigate correctly.

So knowing for a fact that it does not take years to be effective I would keep playing.

Remember, big numbers of SP mean NOTHING for how you play, especially when you are not flying heavies. You might need to be really up there in SP if you want to fly a titan effectively, but that's nothing to expect to be able to do in short order. I have all level 5 in shield and armor tanking - but where is the ship that has bonuses for both kinds of tanking? So 50M SP, 80M + what is it when you can only fly one ship at a time and a ship has only so many bonuses?

It's an opportunity to be embarrassed on the field by someone with less SP and take the SAME risks with the same ships but end up spending more for a clone.

And those who are buttmad because they can't "powerlevel" into a cap ship because they don't have to take time to work and pay their own rent or something can go find another game to play. Plenty of MMOs out there that favor the "He who has the least life wins" model of progression.

Starting over from when? 7 1/2 years ago when I started or from today?

Knowing what I know now........

1. I would not spend the first 5 months training learning skills.
2. I would get implants ASAP
3. I would probably spend lesss time mining
4. I would grind standings for my reseaarch agents corps first and say "later on" to Caldari Navy
5. I would never trust anyone
6. I would PVP more
7. I would have invested in T2 BPOs when they were cheap
8. I would have a capital in hisec
9. I would have started an alt sooner.
10. I would have beaten up more of my friends and made then play Eve instead of saying "Meh" when they said they started playing WOW

Why would I start over again?

I've spent years working on this character and aquire the ISK and assets I currently have.

Just to do what?

Start over again?

You've got to be joking...

THats a biased opinion. obviosuly I would stop playing, as Ive invested years to get where I am and what I have, to be told to start all over with nothing would make my past choices meaningless, taking away any sentiment I had for the game.

This is what I dont like about people who argue against vets about how hypocritical they are for not wanting to start as a new player if new players are so "fine". Its literally like saying little league isnt a good sport because professional baseball players dont want to quit their 6 figure jobs (which is ridiculous pay) to go play little league again, when in truth they DID play little league, succeeded, and went on with further practice to eventually join pro-leagues, that doesnt mean little leagues are bad, just that they had already been through that, earned their stripes, and would not wish to go through it again, but they will acknowledge if they hadnt they wouldnt have gotten to where they are today.

No, and nothing, respectively.

Unlike the "instant gratification crowd",one of the things I like most about EVE is that it takes TIME and PLANNING to achieve great things.

Which is why when I see various posts asking, crying, demanding and/or whining to CCP to make things easier, faster and/or simpler to do -- I LAUGH.

People need to learn patience -- a skill that they can ( hold on to your panties now, THIS will come as a shock to some nubs), ACTUALLY use in RL.

Or they can go back to flipping burgers. Their choice. P
