Basically.

Hilmar is actually a fan of the "slide a potential feature under the doormat" approach to announcements though.

I remember seeing footage for Dust 514 in a very quick, 10 second clip years before it was ever formally announced, and of course it was wedged in the middle of another presentation that had nothing to do with it at all.

They do that kind of stuff. It's annoying as hell.

That is what a Tech Demo is after all. It's not a promise. CCP never stated they were 100% going to implement it. It's just a cool thing that depending on feedback on both it & other features they might see how much work it really is to implement.

And just because it doesn't get negative feedback doesn't mean other projects which get more positive feedback, or similar feedback but will be easier to do, won't be implemented first.

Which makes the whole thing pointless. As a customer I want to see what you WILL do, not what you MIGHT do if you get around to it.

Then you miss the point of fanfest, and should just wait for expansions.

I don't mind the future dream stuff....but they need to be much better at timelines and time frames. Don't show us **** that will never see the light of day. Ring mining was an excellent idea...especially putting goo in it would really shake null up.

Hyping a community up for something you have no intention of ever delivering is bad business, disclaimer or not.

Coincidentally, if you could find that clip for me, that'd be great. Trying to show it to some dust bunnies.

Man I wouldn't even know where to start. It was a LOOOOOOOOONG time ago.... I'm not even certain that its archived.

All I can say for certain is that it was from fanfest, and it was before 2009.

My gut is telling me 2007 or 2006.

You mean the one they showed officially, then claimed it was made by a fan and shown without consent, and then claimed it was official again?
