Issue with multiple accounts

Hey guys

Running Ubuntu 11.10 and a newer version of WINE (1.3.xx - can't remember specifically and I am at work).

Everything works great except one thing.

If I log into my main account and enter game, everything is perfect. Loads my character and everything is great.

If I log into my alt account and enter game, my entire computer locks up and I have to kill power.

I am curious what could cause this. I don't believe the settings on my alt account are different than my main account (I have even had a friend change my settings.

I am not trying to use both accounts at the same time for now, just want to be able to switch between and update skill queue and such (this is a very new account from Power of 2 deal).

I have tried launching from the terminal using the "wine explorer /desktop=EVE ....." and "wine explorer /desktop=EVE2...." statements for each account respectively. Not seeming to work

Wondering about some ideas to try.

Thanks!

Since the early times when there were a lot more problems with eve and wine, i use totally separated user accounts and for each account a different installation of eve.

The only additional thing i can think of are sound problems. Try to disable sound on both clients.

That is something I will try also. Good thought there.

I have also been wondering about a potential sound issue. Though it is weird because when I first installed ubuntu, and got EVE running, I could switch between accounts with no issues, from the same Launcher even and its perplexed me the past few days of why I can no longer do it. Only thing I can think of is the latest update of EVE or some update on my system caused it...Oh well. I'll try your suggestion. Thanks much!

Confirming a sound issue. Disabling sound allowed me to log in.

Note for multiple accounts and multiple installations. Using symbolic links do the same things as the settings are saved in another folder. Plus : this save 8.8GO+FS overhead for each installation ;)

EVE1 => EVE
EVE2 => EVE
EVE3 => EVE
