Battle Ventures - So impractical, they're practical?

So I've seen a growing fad of using Ventures for lulzy combat lately. At first I just laughed the idea off, but on a second thought...


What if the thought of using a Venture for battle is so impractical, it actually makes it somewhat practical? Most people see a Venture as easy pickings, so I take it that luring in a combatant is easy enough. On top of that, when most people see a Venture, they assume it's out mining, so they won't be expecting any resistance. I could imagine someone unaware sneaking up and KA-POW. Owned by a Venture.

I haven't tried this before, nor do I plan to, but I thought I'd ask you guys as a hypothetical, could a battle Venture actually have its uses beyond cheap lulz?

Battle venture is a tried and tested pirate ship mate.

Killer of kiting ships. Got caught by one and caught one in my own battle venture in zero skill alt.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

Now, remember, when you have your mining fleet out with your rorqual, you can refit to battle ventures and pwn the gankers.

Not to mention battle ventures can field drones, as well as warp out from a scram.

I've gotten numerous, hilarious kills in a battle venture with cloak and stabs for good measure. It is astounding how bad some pilots are, I even killed an autocannon thrasher with one.

This is nothing new, been seeing them in pvp since the day they were released.

Alone they are quite lol and you will only get kills on idiots. In gangs they become much more effective. However, ventures against a similar number of actual pvp ships will lose almost every time.
