Sup, Brony?

Anyways....

A random, OK feature. Doesn't really distract from anything and the idea of "avatar spinning" is kinda fun. It is also a small, decent step towards making character design matter.

But yea, the dev blog its self was terrible. Just "Hey it's a thing! LOOK!" post. I couldn't have written anything better in the least, but I'm only paid to give nonconstructive criticism.

Seriously, I don't imagine this took too much work to make happen. So I doubt we're missing out on a bunch of extra features to to make this work. You people b**** and moan too much. No wonder they were only posting one blog a month. I like these constant updates from CCP. This isn't game changing or game breaking. It's just a little extra added coolness that plenty of us have wanted.

If you don't like it, don't open it. You're not losing anything. Quit b****ing.

Anyway, awesome sauce Guard. Now if we just had some more choices in clothing to chose from :P

You guys gotta remember, this is Monday, they're not going to lead off with the best stuff in the first part of the week. They're saving the good stuff for later onBig smile

I find this sort of thing irritating. I accept that it *may* have been almost complete before CCP's "change in direction", but as soon as you see that people have been working on a minor aesthetic improvement like this it rings alarm bells.

I mean c'mon... this... as a dev blog? Let's put it into perspective from a player's point of view, I'll use other aesthetically related dev blogs for comparison:

Dev blog comes out announcing the new nebula backgrounds, it sounds great and it will effect everyone who plays the game (with the exception of hard core traders who just sit in stations, but they're a weird, if very wealthy, lot). This is generally well received by the players.

Dev blog comes out announcing changes to the UI allowing scaling. It's generally well received because it's potentially tremendously helpful for a large number of people.

And then we get this... A minor feature (in comparison) which will effect a handful of players who want to gawk at the pretty pixels of another player's avatar. It's not on a par with new ships, massive changes to how pos's are run, cap ship balancing, hybrid weapon balancing, player owned customs offices... etc.. etc.. so why announce it in it's own dev blog as if it is?

I'm not saying it shouldn't be implemented, I'm not saying it's a waste of time (although, depending on how long it took, you have to question whether the resources could have been better spent elsewhere at the moment), but I am saying that presenting it as a dev blog was a bad decision. Many players are still sensitive about the whole micro-transaction debacle CCP blundered into, the last thing CCP want to do is tear up the patches of trust that have started to grow back on their player base's confidence in them. Presenting something as a feature which is clearly linked to custom clothing, and as such micro-transactions at this time was not as sensitive as it might have been imo.

At worst, this is a silly and frivolous feature that's not going to hurt anything. In light of all the excellent work CCP has been doing since summer, I'm certainly not going to get upset about this. Carry on gentlemen. Carry on.

meh really, it's hardly an awesome groundbreaking feature, but it is something that's kinda part of the feature set if you're going to have customisable avatars.

Best of all it's done CORRECTLY in that it's there for those that give a monkeys, and for those that don't it has zero impact on their ongoing gameplay and can be safely ignored. I can seriously see this as having replaced the standard character portrait on showinfo screen by default with no way to turn it off, given some of the somewhat dubious decisions taken in recent times regarding ramming new stuff down people throats purely because it's new and shiny, grats for a sensible deployment CCP.

Does it use the character creation graphics or the ingame engine cq graphics or something else?

Do they move?

Can you make em bend over?

All in all not the sort of thing I was hoping for "ambulation wise" but at least some work has been done.

Quit brave of you to just flaunt this feature, because its a sensitive subject. You kept it short and sweet and included big graphics, but don't be afraid to actually explain the feature and what it will do.

Can we make sure that the curtains match the drapes when configuring hair styles as well?

I really like symmetry.

Brony spotted...

Ah well, nobody expected you to give up entirely on Space Barbies, and this is a positive step in making them more viable.

But remember, it's the SHIPS we really want to customize. If you'd focused on that in the first place, you'd be selling Aurum like Ikea sells cheap plywood by now.

This is my signature. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

Someday, this signature may save my life.

CCP Guard, please don't let the moaning tards discourage you or any other dev team members from releasing blogs letting us know of upcoming goodies.

My brother talked me into watching some My Little Pony with him, and to my surprise it was actually quite hilarious.

If you do that, please add the option to actually not wear pants.

Currently choosing a pant is one of the forced options in the character creator. If you want us to look for people without pants, let us remove them in the first place Cool

I am imagining the first CCP meeting after Hilmar's blog.
The devs where discussing wich devblog to publish first, to calm the raging mob.
And some troll at CCP voted for this one, just to unleash the epic sh*tstorm. Cool

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

CCP Solomon whom you all know from the recent Core Technology video has a new dev blog out on the Full Body Avatar Viewer....!

They need to be able to INTERACT with OTHER characters!!!

- to sit in a common lounge for the sake of more interactive chat
- to view outside the station for POS/Station campers

something needs to be useful else why!

Buying stuff for nothing, self vanity alone? is just stupid and not part of the game!

That's a great way to explain the reaction some of us are having.
