Serenity. There was nothing around but the distant glimmer of stars, gazing on at a scene of destruction. Sunrise, Bu Imbagi’s Algos sat in the centre of twisted wrecks and the gentle humming of salvage drones. Sunrise was motionless, it appeared, just a dull rumble deep inside the engine core, the Sunrise became the meaning of stillness amongst devastation. The five drones in space were moving to their next target, mechanised arms ready to cut and peel at layers of metal, the Serpentis wreck seemed ready for its journey to rebirth. The salvagers penetrated the hull, their ocular lenses whined as they searched quickly for sealed rooms or closed bulkheads, their first task was to rescue any survivors. A shame, this time there were none, signals were sent back and forth from the Sunrise and the drones began to pick the frigate apart.

Bu’s mind wandered as his body lay dormant in the confines of his capsule, his consciousness gripping the Sunrise. Prisoners and refugees were being guided to holding chambers by Bu’s staff, escorted by armed guard. The concept was strange, it was almost as if he was holding them, inside himself ready to birth them back into the world, the Serpentis placed into rehabilitation, and the few refugees would be given sanctuary at Bu’s own facility at home, on Intaki Prime. When his duty brought him to conflict, and to cause harm and suffering, he thought it only right to attempt to repair the damage. “Purpose, is not purpose when carried out with needless aggression, through this, we are taught restraint.” The words echoed through Bu’s mind, they were words from the only Idama he had ever met. Bu followed this teaching of Ida, it was an important one, and a valuable lesson any capsuleer, or any baseliner pilot should learn. He went beyond this teaching though and sought to repair that minimal damage he had caused, and offered rebirth to all those who have lived a life of chaos and selfishness. Through this he hoped that he may make a difference, after all, what challenge is a purpose without morals?

Bu’s mind wandered to the recent conflict, it had passed quickly, and efficiently. Upon recalibration after warpdrive activity the Sunrise had targeted all Serpentis in the area, and began a large orbit around the battle site. The Serpentis had quickly scrambled to engage him but by the time the first frigate was in range it was ripped apart by the combined firepower of Bu’s drones, and of the turrets aboard Sunrise. There had been some shield damage but the sheer effectiveness of the drones was overwhelming. Again, a lesson in letting purpose, instead of needless aggression lead the fight. Mankind could learn a great deal from apparent “mindless drones.” On so many occasions have men and women let anger grip their actions, and on many of these occasions, grave mistakes were made.

The salvage drones were returning from the last wreck. A total of twelve refugees, and only three Serpentis pirates were taken, all from the cramped confines of the first salvaged wreck. Ship parts were already being processed into the useful, and the scrap metal. The salvage drones entered through an energy field on the port side, setting down their bounty and returning to their resting places to power down. Bu fired up the engines to sequence for warp and made one last sweep of the site using his camera drone. Serenity, it was if he had never been there.
