Launcher having problem

Hi,

after installing the most recent patch today my eve launcher no longer allows me to log in. The left part of the window which usually has the username / pwd / login button is all dark and larger than usual. There is no visible writing in it, but by double clicking around I can highlight the following error string:

Error -401 when loading url https://login.eveonline.com/launcher?client_id=eveLauncherTQ#access_token= {...edited out...} &token_type=Bearer&expires_in=43200

Right clicking in the area gives the options back and forward, back gets me to the usual login controls but if I enter user / pwd I get back to the previous hidden error message.

It's not a problem with the client as such, my cloned copy runs perfectly fine.

I'm having problems, too. I can log in but the game never starts up. I click Play, it changes to "Launching.." but never starts.

I tried starting /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app and nothing happens when I open it.

I'm also unable to log in. My client bounces between not showing me any login prompt in the right hand pane (left for 10 minutes before closing) and timing out with an error as seen in the screenshot in about 1-2 minutes.

So, I moved /Users/MYUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/EVE Online and restarted the launcher and it worked. There must be something in my old settings that the new patch doesn't like.

If you try this be warned: this will wipe most of your settings.

I wish I could get the new patch. I had the "move to trash" message and resolved that issue. Game worked for a couple of weeks. Yesterday when I attempted to log on, the launcher freezes and does not respond. I have to force quit. It doesn't even stay online long enough to begin to download any patches.

Using a Macbook from about 2010, OSX is Mavericks 10.9.2

Uploaded the last patch fine. Played on April 4. Quit game. Went to log back in the next day. Launcher does not get through validating client. What?? Sometimes the yellow indicator for validation gets part way through and at other times it doesn't even start. Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard) says application not responding. Wheel of death.

Went into cache. Found "EVE Online" for April 2, 2014. Launched. Successful.

Now here's something interesting. The launch from cache gives me the old login screen - the cool one with the star/nebula background and neat music. I login from there. No problem. The new Rubicon character screen shows up and I go from there into the game. And that's how I've had to login beginning on April 5.

Anyone know why I am still able to use the old login screen?
