If we go check the price history of PLEX, it has a strong upward trend.
However, it used to have sufficient supplies (used to have like 20+ in the market)
Recently I check it again, its price has gone up from 600 mil to 780 mil in just 3 days and the supply has dropped down below 10.
I expect EVE will experience PLEX crisis soon (extreme low supply but high demand)
I also expect the price will keep going up.
The cause of it is could be due to increased supply of ISK (for many reasons and increased population of EVE)

Added:
Some people might not understand the concept of commodity crisis and so here I would like to demonstrate how it happens in the real world.

PLEX crisis is a crisis for some people who plays to pay their fee.
You can imagine it in this way:
In reality, when oil per barrel price is $100 and the supply is 100 barrels per day for 100 users.
It is all about supply and demand and here we comes the economics.
Quantity supply is the change of price while supply change is caused by other factors.
In this case if oil price goes up to $150 and supply drops down to 50 barrels per day, it shifts supply curve to the left .
Eventually, unchanged demand but decreased supply shifted equilibrium point up and left.
As the result, the 100 users now only 50 users get 50 barrels per day but paying $150 per barrel.
The other 50 gets nothing and that is the crisis to them.

Ok. If there's low supply and high demand, I'll get right on it.

Good profits to be made.

I understand what you're describing.
But I don't understand why you're calling it a 'crisis.'

No it hasn't.

It is good to have substance to one's existence.  But in the absence of substance, one can do much yet with style.

Higher PLEX prices = less botters and ISBox single-man/20-ship mining fleets.

780mil PLEX, supported.

Plex prices will continue to rise as long as CCP continues pouring raw isk into the pockets of carebears. Rewards should be in the form off LP or loot for missions and incursions. Giving more LP would crash their respective markets, and giving more loot would mean their rewards might be stolen (o noes!). So inflation will continue as long as CCP continues to bubblewrap the bears.

Or because more people play the game and want to play for "free", thus supply no longer keeps up with demand causing the price to rise.

If you look at the numbers PLEX has risen pretty proportionately to the rise in account numbers. So...ya.

780 mil?? Are you in 0.0 or wormhole space? cause it's just a little over 700 right now where I am at.

Supply seems fine here, plenty on the market from what I can tell.

As well as if the nex store gets seeding with things people want, then people will buy plex's to cash out for aur. But you might also see people buying aurm and then selling that.

If the laws of supply and demand hold, there will be a price where no one will want to pay for plex and all the people hording will start unloading, which should drive the price down. If there is no demand, supply will grow and force prices down. Till then, the plex bubble will keep going. I should of turned my 20b I had 3 years ago into plex.. i'd be very space rich right now

though if you have a credit card and buy a gtc you are essentially paying $15 for 700m isk. that could be very good profit if that's what you do.
