Corporate Hangar Array: What is it good for?

So we finally got our faction standing high enough to deploy a POS in highsec for research and manufacturing. While doing the power/CPU budget, I naturally thought "Man, we're gonna need a hangar array to store everything! Better include a CHA in there!" But so far, it doesn't get used at all. Our minerals and blueprints, when not in use, sit in the corporate office hangar in the same system. We haven't been able to figure out how to start a build project on an assembly array using materials stored in the corporate array, so we've had to cart the minerals up to the array directly anyway.

I can certainly see why a CHA would be important in lowsec or some star system where there are no stations to rent an office from, but I really can't see the point for my corp. Any thoughts or advice? Should we just un-anchor the damn thing?

---EDIT---

As a side note, I keep reading that a POS must be anchored around a moon, and that there can only be one POS per moon. But those same articles also immediately talk about moon mining, which I certainly won't be doing in highsec. Does our starbase absolutely have to be above a moon, or can I anchor it just anywhere if I'm not trying to moon mine?

Sounds like possibly yes.

It is exactly what it seems to be, just general storage.

It can be used for corpmates to store items without giving them access to the labs etc.

If you put it close enough to the other assembly arrays you can just drag minerals from one to the other.

But yes, IMO it would be of more use if you were in a system without a station, or nullsec or WH.

Yeah, CHAs are generally not worth it. Component Assembly Arrays give better storage per PG/CPU if you *need* somewhere at the POS to store stuffs.

Whilst you can leave the blueprint in a station office and remotely assemble from it you must have the materials located in the same place as the assembly line, so you are stuck with hauling the materials to the assembly arrays. As noted above you can transfer items directly from one POS module to another so long as you are flying something with a cargohold (ie. not a pod) and are within transfer range of both. So:

[POS mod] <--max transfer range--> You <--max transfer range--> [POS mod]

This can be handy but is generally not so much for what you intend. If running reactions and/or moon mining it makes things so much easier as you can just leave a nub alt in a shuttle logged at the POS for maintaining things.

Finally, you must always anchor a POS at a moon and each moon can only sustain one POS. You also can't choose where at the moon it anchors there is a set position. This is irrespective of whether you can or intend to perform moon mining. Sorry Smile

Corporate hangar arrays are better if you have excess power grid.
Assembly arrays are better if you have excess CPU.

I have a large Minmatar research POS in high-sec. Even after onlining a dozen guns, I have plenty of PG left. CPU, however, is best spent on labs and ECM. Therefore, a corporate hangar array is the best choice for me. I use it to store 6+ months of POS fuel, allowing any worthless alt in a shuttle to refuel the POS simply by warping next to it and dragging the fuel from the corporate hangar into the POS hangar.

Moon mining is not possible in high security space. And no, you can't anchor it somewhere. Only at a moon.

I like those X-large assembly arrays to store stuff. Here we have a REAL storage. And it will not cost a lot of fuel because when not in use its offline.
While building capital ships its always good to have a second one anchored, onlining it cost 2 min. Offlining it 1 second.
Its worth having those.
Also hardcore miners dont even need a day to fill up a corp hangar.
Only problem is roles and rights as usual. You dont want members be able to offline pos buildings.
But this all sucks anyways.
