1% hull bug

Hi there

this bug is still in existence i believe. sometimes you can shoot a target with a salvo and the damage just stopps at 1% hull. the next salvo will kill it. I have done a lot of lvl 4 missions in earlier times and you would have that occurance every other npc after it was introduced with retribution i believe. it was when the mechanic was introduced that you can't instant kill a target if you damage the hull over 50% in one shot. the 1% bug was fixed rather fast. or so i thought.

on some occassions it still seems to exist though. and no i am not just extremely unlucky i think ^^

i use artys mainly and this bug is especially unforgiving for this kind of weapon type because of the long reload times. if i look at the combat log it shows like:

Hit - 984
Penetrate - 429

and the target is at 1% hull

The penetrate should have killed the target and done more damage surely. Sadly i didn't screenshot it :/ i will look for the next occurance.

just wanted to know if some of you guys have similar experiences with this :)

Interesting. Haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary yet. Angel BS and other large "speedie" rats tend to take a lot less damage from my cruises while they are ABing around, but I don't have nearly as much experience with guns. When I used a Paladin for a bit last year, I would see less damage at times from a smashing or penetrating hit than a regular hit, but this didn't always leave a "1% structure HP" case (with the exception of the aforementioned bug, that was indeed obnoxious). Again, I'm not great with gun mechanics, but I always assumed that was just a byproduct of how tracking speed and range and sig size and the such worked together.

Another good question is how do rats get so consistently lucky with landing reps at the absolute last possible moment to thwart a would-be final blow? I've at times assumed it was simply just weird damage bleed-off, but the shield/armor amount left over has always been consistent with how much their rep should be. Maybe it is just weird damage bleed.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."
