Yes, I know what you're talking about. I'm simply pointing out that what you're saying holds true for both camps and that, if anything, the ones who are raging over him are currently displaying far worse behaviour than he did. The problem with this is that, at the end of the day, chances are that their mishandling the situation will leave them tossed out on their ears and Erotica still in the game with a only slap on the wrist to show for it. All because he ends up looking almost reasonable in comparison.

OK. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Oops

You are right in describing this common sociopath tactic of staying calm, letting the others rage and lose credibility even if their arguments are good. It will probably end up as you describe, especially as we are on an internet forum.

It's not about scamming it's about the trolling the cyber bullying the joy of doing it and seeing people get traumatised by it. What if one person commits suicide like some have done over it, don't you think it's funny then you fooking piece of ****
Anyone who endorses this behaviour are equally low life scum

Now, in that recording that was linked, I heard litterally no abuse, sure, it was all a big joke on the guy, but its not like they were being at all offensive in their language, they were calm, not once did they laugh (during the session).
The guy had every reason, in my eyes, to just accept what happened and leave the teamspeak, he didnt, HE decided the best course of action was to, ironically, throw insults and threats at these people. Which is really whats so funny right?

NOW, what youre saying is that we are to assume everyone who looses a spaceship is out to kill himself, really?
So whenever I get a nice shiny kill, I am not to enjoy it, because oh no, this guy might be suicidal?
The game is about enjoying yourselves within the rules of the game, Erotica 1 is doing that big time.
Shooting ships is doing that aswell, if someone has real life problems, how are we to know?
The only time I MIGHT give your "case" credibility is when these sorts of emotions are being voiced by these people, until then, everything is fair game within the rules.

Also, you should try to do a quick youtube search for phone pranks, there is litterally hundreds if not thousands of videos of people being recorded over the phone, without being aware of it, and some of em throw tantrums abit like this guy, is that wrong? Maybe, is it funny? Most everyone who has seen those videos think so, including me. Are we all evil sadistic socipaths? Maybe to you.
Honestly, the arguments and accusations being thrown around in these threads are way over the top, much more so than what Erotica 1 has possible ever done.

CCP should really just lock all threads like these.

Maybe some of that as well, but it's more that I'm fairly convinced that those other people suffer from their fair share of (and a much wider range of) pathologies as well…

Doesn't surprise me. A week or two ago, people wanted me dead for pointing out that in-game actions happen in-game.

So er, A for the effort?

We all know how the EvE community is, I though we all knew this when we signed up.
Tis is what makes EvE, it makes you develop a thick skin, If you can't deal with this ''bullying'' in a virtual game, I can't imagine how it will be in real life.

You're probably right, I don't pretend to be completely exempt from pathologies myself (neurosis mainly, I hope not too many other pathos). Probably the reason why our world is so crazy.

I fully endorse Erotica 1's actions.

This thread is childish,
It's not constructive, in fact it's destructive.
If you cannot stand the people who create content in this game, the game is not for you anyway.

I must most vigorously protest!

The whole point of EvE, the source of it's grit and texture, is that to get anything big done you will need to trust at some point. This allows others the chance to indulge in treachery.
Trust no one is the whimper of the fearful. If you commit assets to an op that turns out to be a long con or just a mean joke, you really have to answer with: Didn't want that frigate/ isk / loot / orca / poco / dread / station / region anyway.
Choices have consequences.
Trusting no one limits those choices greatly.

I trust my corp mates in TDSIN with about 10-15bil of assets at any given time.

You know why? Because we are normal guys, and at the end of the day we are in the wh all together. and Trust is what allows us to work tegether as a team.

'Trust no one' is a sociopaths' cry. Its not normal. And I dont want EVE community to function on the level of the lowest common denominator - some psychopath sadist who gets his kicks from humiliating a vulnerable human being.

Can you explain how humiliating someone for more than 2 hours is creating content in the game ?

We get to laugh at the person for being stupid. I mean, come on. . . LOL! How dumb do you have to be to be?

What you don't seem to understand is that we're all here, living through EvE because we can't cut it offline. If we tried to be our true selves, there would be true consequences of our actions.

Here on EvE, we get to be the person we want to be, better than everyone else and proving it with yours and everyone else's stupidity. And there's nothing you can do about it!

Grow up, understand that we will always be better than you and dance. Make me laugh, clown.

Its not bullying. Whoever was 'bullied' openly consented to giving ISK, and did it with their own conscience, with their own hands, and with their own keyboard. If you're talking harrassment, however, the point of EVE is to create an alternate universe where people nare allowed to bully, monopolize, scam, and other things. That is the fun part.

Is abusing a fresh new, and not very well off player mean? Yes, it is. But it ultimately is the victim's fault for playing EVE without knowing the ramifications of doing so.

Its just a videogame. If someone scammed you or abused you, or harrassed you, or griefed you, you are not screwed. you can quit and play another game (like WoW) where people wont or can't bug you as much.

I think you may not understand where/how/what actually happened in the recent Sohkar/Erotica1 incident.
Its detailed here:

It is something that can, does and did happen in other MMOs and is promptly quashed by the developer.
CCP has yet to delineate on this.

Yes I am talking about Erotica 1 and others like him.

I encourage others to cancel their alts as well to force CCP to clean up some of the worst aspects of EVE.

Enough is enough. There are limits. Cyber-bullying has no place in this game, or anywhere else.

If enough of us cancel our third of fourth alts for a month of two, CCP will act and clean up the community.

CANCEL SUBSCRIPTIONS UNTIL CCP ACTS.
