Rejoice as CCP Recurve brings interesting statistics from the EVE market!

Do you remember the huge battle of B-R5RB in January 2014 with 75 Titans, 370 Dreadnaughts and other ships getting destroyed? CCP Recurve investigates in his latest dev blog if this battle had any impact on the EVE market and if so, how the market reacted.

Additionally the Price Indices for February 2014 are now available and published.

Read all about the mineral market and price indices in CCP Recurve's latest blog Mineral Trade in the Wake of the Battle of B-R5RB (Price Indices – February 2014)

So all that mayhem was absorbed in a matter of days to weeks.

Outstanding.

Hourly and daily reaction time is what surprised me. Apparently if you are going to "time the market" on short term gains in EVE, you better keep a beat on what is going on hourly.

/me waits for GS Economic Cabala to take advantage of said reaction next time by basically hedging their losses and buying up minerals prior, then selling as the price spikes and ships die.

There are HUGE amounts of 'stuff' in storage throughout New Eden that people can't be bothered sorting out and shipping, however when the price shoots up they suddenly put in the effort for the extra profit.

As this was a one off event the minerals pulled out of storage quickly managed to balance the market.

Interesting topic, I'd like regular and more detailed analysis of market :) dedicated market and industry devblog perhaps? :)

Clearly this is an indication as to how bloated and over-saturated New Eden has become both in terms of null-sec accumulation of capital ships & high-sec mineral stocks.

I can't NOT read this kind of stuff without some good coffee and a copy of The "cal. navy 4-4 journal" in front of me, hearing how something changing less than 1% still makes a difference of billions of isk and typically can't compute in my thick skull.

Haaaaaalp my head's on fire

So, any progress in suppressing the out-of-control ISK faucets that cause PLEX prices to be continually out of whack compared to the rest of the market?

Its very interesting to see the effects of large-scale changes to game mechanics and significant nulsec activities reflected in the various price indices. The Alchemy and moon goo rebalance efforts are clear to see, as well as the removal of meta 0 drops from the loot tables, the removal of Drone Alloys, and the introduction of PI.

What I got of this most recent economic DEVBLOG is that there is a lot of liquid isk floating around right now.

What do you mean, "next time"? Market speculation around patches and large events isn't new by any stretch.

yet the ship prices are not showing that bloating. ! usually when resources are more abundant the prices of items come down. doesnt seem to be the case any more. people still want old figures for their new stock.. shame really. was kinda hoping it had an impact. i guess it wasnt enough people in the battle. so yea eve is definately bloated.

Now if only CCP put as much effort into curbing rampant cyber-bulling in EVE as in this little chart, would be nice.

But +1 for doing something. Keep it up.

I agree speculation is not new. But from the 5 years I have been playing EVE I have never seen graphs from CCP to validate the actual movement of price/volume of said minerals during large battles. Assuming I am reading the graph pron correctly. Follow?

B-R was a drop in the ocean, average prices recovered after just two days.

The rate of titan building after B-R increased by maybe 10-15 titans per month, so any price change in minerals would be spread over that time. The price spike only occurred because speculators thought minerals would increase in value long term, but that doesn't seem to have been the case.

Here is an idea... Get rid of PLEX completely; Go to work and pay for your subscription like all hard working individuals? Just a thought...

But then again if you divide quantum physics by 2 and add a nanobit of mechanical engineering you may or may not come up with the theory of relativity version 2.8675309!

I personally think hydro-mechanical engineering is where it's at, and figured out that 1 unit of rocket science and a smidge of cayenne pepper could redefine black holes by injecting synth boosters into the singularity and tele-porting midgets to the 18 corners of the galaxy.... yes folks there are 18 corners...

Don't believe me? Then take this study into consideration; A scientist from WTF University conducted an experiment on people who waste their lives whining about useless dung on the internet and concluded that 1 out of 1 were in fact dung themselves and showed no signs of intelligence.

There you have it folks... Straight from the desk of go get a life, EVE is a game, and you CAN divide by Zero!!!

Don't you need to replace the replacements? Or aren't you ever going to lose the new ones?
