Cross-threading to a post in the OOPE Guitar Players thread that has links to a couple of songs by Skylab. How to describe? Cinematic thematic rhythm-intense melodic metal. Could make good BGM for an EVE session. Maybe inter-relatedly because the guitarist is an EVE player.
Show them some love y'all and give it a listen. Smile Novembre, Agalloch, maybe hints of very old Tangerine Dream come to mind when I listen. Don't let the EVE player part throw you off-- it's serious well-produced music.

Hyper New Yorker promoter guy's quote: 'We went to visit her relatives in Spain, where we went for her cousin's wedding, and I couldn't understand a word, and we came out of this lunch place and were late and didn't know how to find the church. Anyway, doesn't matter... when we came out, there was this music coming from across the street. In the pouring down rain, you know? We were late, but I knew then I had to go hear it, and there they were. The girl drummer and all everything, pounding out music in the rain on the street in Spain. I knew then that somehow that things just fall together for a purpose, and it's been the same ever since. One thing after another just fell into place, and now we're lined up for a world tour."

New York hard-core, baby!

A little Pro-Pain.

If this groove doesn't light you up like a freakin' rocket, then you need to seek help.

And some Agnostic Front. (Turn it up, the mix is a little thin. That just means you play it even louder, thoughTwisted)

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

There's been 3 CDs I've been tirelessly listening over and over and over again lately, while I work, play or do whatevers.

Conan - "Monnos" . Some of the finest Doom Metal I've ever heard, heavy and dense as the resin encrusted insides of my cranium. It takes me to a special far away place.

Ghost - "Opus Eponymous" . While on the first listen I thought it sounded too weird and melodic (for my usual tastes), this album has now fully hooked me, excellent from start to finish. Satan finds his pop sensibilities.

Aphex Twin - "Selected Ambient Works 2". I have a lot of electronic ambient albums, but this one is the mother of them all. It's now getting close to 20 years since I first got my ears on this, and I still listen to it obsessively.
