Elite: Frontier was first for me. Can you imagine whole galaxy on one 1,44 floppy? Big smile

I'm missing my asp explorer...

I actually like the progress from Elite to Frontier. Loved figuring out the most efficient ship and fit for the things I was planning on doing. Pirate hunting in a Asp, courier work with a Viper, military missions in a Imperial Courier. I just never figured out asteroid mining. I'm following the development of Elite Dangerous with some curiosity.

I was in grad school when all the cool games came out Straight When I was done in 2004 the WoW adds were flashy and colorful. They sucked me in as I had been doing nothing but looking at black and white text and watching sports for 8 straight years. The first time I jumped off of Thundar Bluff my stomach actually jumped up into my throat. After I explored all of the world I found my way into the pvp grounds. I had a lot of fun there but then it got stale quickly. I quite WoW shortly there after. A year later I asked my brother in law if he knew of a good pvp game. He pointed me here and the rest is history.

ZX81, C64, Amiga, PC

Played elite on the C64 but never on any other platform (they just weren't as good imo).

Yeah, I played Elite on the Commodore 64 back in the 80's. I had the cool headset that you could grunt into to fire the ship's weapons too. I had Starflight for the TRS-80 too.

well Ian Bell has repeatedly mentioned that the definitive version of Elite was the BBC Model B version. And yeah Ive seen the c64 version, it was dreadful.

I'm still playing elite and elite plus (for PC) Ian Bell has them available for download on his site. Using Dosbox to get them to run.

Commander Jameson checking in, on C64 and Amiga.

And like some other pilot around here, I do remember when the ship was double piloted by me and my brother who took turns at joystick and keyboard.

I spent so much time learning to dock, spent days before I could manage a dock on Lave station, that was an achievement in itself. And each time I had to manually dock it was a risk. Manual docking would be so cool... Big smile

Do you guys remember when you were sold the tribbles on C64 version? Big smile

binatone then, bbc, oric, vic 20, spectrum (rubber keyed) then 128k , then c64 Atari st, amiga and then onto a 286 pc and onwards even had a amiga CDTV for awhile.

tbh my favourite out of all of them was frontier but very bug ridden. super old fart here.

God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!" I came fifth and won a toaster!

Started with Elite on C64, then Elite Plus, Frontier and FF3 on Amiga. Each of those has eaten months/years from my life Shocked

By the way, they just recently released new docking video for Elite: Dangerous. I'm so excited about this as it brings back lots of memories... just missing the Blue Danube music.

C-64. B1tch please!

I first played it on my mate's Acorn Electron. Then Santa gave me a Spectrum 48k. I then got an Acorn Archimedes where Elite had shaded sides! Then a dos based PC where I played Frontier. I still have that box set.

Spawn in Cobra-Sell Cobra-Buy Asp Explorer-Buy 50mw Pulse laser-PWN

Then Wing Commander came, I found my old box this christmas. I'm thinking of getting the ship blueprint posters framed.

Then Conflict Freespace, great game.

Then several years outdoors enjoying sex, drugs and loud music until my renal system failed.

....and back indoors where I came across Eve.

I've never been sure weather I can class myself as a 'gamer'. I've only really ever been interested in space combat sims and a few strategy games. I've never really played consoles. Eve provides all the things I need from a game. We'll see how well Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous do in the MMO era. They're both talking big. I hope it's all they want it to be.

That man is the noblest creature may be inferred from the fact that no other creature has contested his claim.
