With mining and missions permanently available to everyone there is an endless supply of ISK in game. In terms of the in game economy, does anything increase the worth of ISK or does it just continuously inflate?

Mining does not generate ISK.

You get ISK generation from:
- bounties
- various mission rewards
- NPC buy orders
- insurance payouts

ISK sinks:
- market taxes
- NPC sell orders (skill books, BPOs, ...)
- NPC corp taxes
- PI taxes
- war fees
- various station services (office rents, clones, repairs, insurance, ...)
- LP stores
- locator agents
- manufacturing/research fees
- various alliance fees and sov
- people with ISK getting banned (or quit the game permanently)

PLEX cards do not create isk.

Certain activities generate ISK. Certain activities remove ISK from the universe. Naya listed these activities above.

Certain activities generate goods. (Mining, PI, Moon Mining, etc.) Certain activities remove goods from the universe. (PVP mainly, also people stockpiling and quitting the game.)

As long as there is a balance between the goods and ISK in the universe, prices will remain relatively steady. If ISK generation exceeds goods generation, there will be inflationary pressure and prices for everything will increase. If goods are produced faster than ISK, then there will be deflationary pressure and prices for everything will go down.

As far as inflation/deflation is concerned, the only thing that matters is the total amount of ISK and goods in circulation in the universe. Trading one for another with other players does not matter, except for the taxes and fees associated with those trades.

Finally, the basic currency in the game is TIME. While there is the potential for nearly infinite ISK and goods in the EVE universe, it requires a player to do an activity. That mission runner is trading his time to bring ISK into the universe. That miner is trading his time to bring a unit of tritanium into the universe. Most players can only do activities to fatten their wallets for so long before they feel the need to blow it up.

No, because the amount of stuff increases along with the amount of currency. As long as its balanced, there is no inflation.

Yes, the ISK supply is constantly inflating.

The supply of goods is also inflating, faster I believe than the supply of ISK.

Last I heard there's a little under a quadrillion ISK in the game (this does not include assets, just liquid ISK in wallets and corp wallets) although I'm not sure of the veracity of that number or how recent it was.

In 2013, about 2.3 Q worth of goods were produced, and about 800T destroyed, for a net increase in gamewide assets of 1.5Q. This makes it plausible that total asset value is around 8Q.

This sounds plausible to me - most people do not have anywhere near as much in liquid ISK as they have in assets.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com
