[Possible Hack] New Compressed Ore !

Since the announcement of the reprocessing changes prices of compressed ores started to climb up, based on my understanding CCP introducing better compression values to compensate the heavy minerals loss of reprocessing railguns due to scrapmetal processing nerf.

So batch size will be same but volume will decrease dramatically, the point is CCP didn't thought about the compressed ores right now in market, after the patch whoever is holding the biggest amount of compressed ore will be creating minerals from thin air. If old compressed ore will share the same Item ID No., post summer expansion you will discover that your hoarded compressed ore are same quantity but less volume and refine more minerals especially if you did this in POS or in upgraded Minimatar Outpost, which is kind ridiculous in my opinion.

On the other hand if the old compressed ore retained its volume and ore quantity but share the same item ID No. there will be a lot of scams over market or public contracts, you will find yourself buying old compressed ores with post summer expansion prices for old outdated ones.

What I’m certain of CCP won’t introduce different types of compressed ores new/old because of this change, so the problem will stay if my thoughts are still valid.

Not the first time CCP changed something and it resulted in players creating a lot of stuff from nothing. Remember the introduction of PI?

This is a valid concern. CCP doesnt alwasy thinks things through and when people use / abuse the crap implemented by them you get an angry Senior CCP guy spouting threats at you.

If you ask nicely they might reduce the quantity of all existing stacks to compensate.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

It's called market speculation. Whenever CCP announce a change like this, people start to speculate on the change in value of stuff, either as an item, or as minerals. Demand and price change accordingly.

I've not looked at the numbers myself but I would say it's working as intended, market speculation in advance of upcoming changes is normal, and quite profitable if you get it right.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

because the refining formula is changing, you're going to be getting 78% or something yield with max skills, rather than 100% with mediocre skills. so even though the ice will contain more isotopes, you won't be getting those isotopes.

Ditto. Erm I've only read the blog once so far but I believe it says there won't be a change between the contents of compressed ore pre and post the change presuming it takes place. There is supposed to be a discussion post set up on the F&I board if it isn't there already to gauge opinions. Although I don't think there have been many cases of CCP changing its mind on changes up til now.

You will get more if you have maxed out your skills.

I have lvl 5 Ice skills and lvl 4 in all ore skills. This change is going to be good for me.

But not for everyone.

It will mean more ore on the market for a time. Until the learning cliff catches up.

And yes I am stockpiling ICE, but not ores. Also I noticed a jump in some ICE recently. Not sure if related.

This isn't a hack it's taking advantage of upcoming mechanic changes.

This isn't just the case with compressed ore, however. They are increasing the refine value of ORE which in turn increases the value of that compressed ore by the same ratio, but nerfing the refine rate at the same time. In order to gain any advantage to hoarding ore and compressed ore you would need to hoard it in a perfect refining minmatar outpost and then ship the minerals to hisec (or sell them to a supercap builder ETC).

The real key to making money from this expansion to REDACTED. By doing that you will make trillions.
