i will never understand why people like this think they can't fight back.

A few weeks back in Lanngisi a Golem pilot baited a destroyer gang into CONCORDING themselves trying to gank him, and he talked major crap to them in local. He never fired a shot at them. THAT is an eve player, not the guy who plays this video game filled with ways to defend yourself who then refuses to even try.

I mean really, is it that hard to mine next to a mobile depot that you can scoop up when you move? Is it that hard to have alts or friends?

Nothing about your story is about fighting back. Yay! He managed to get what 10 2mil isk 1 way ticket destroyers to concord themselves for nothing? This is hardly going to deter anyone from ganking and it's 100% the gankers choice to gamble on that.

I don't think saying move or don't mine is a solution. Miners and all pve need a real way to fight back other then hope and prey the ganker messes up.

I like this idea, how about a trap mining boat. It looks like a miner but when fired upon instantly webs and scams the attacker and raises all defenses to 99%.
It's called a Skiff.

You can fit 2 points or a web point combo, a neut and a sizable tank, offense consists of enough drone bandwidth and storage for 5 Hammerheads.

Pretty much a perfect bait ship.

bait ship should not look like obvious trap. I mean you can try to make bait retriever and you will get targets. But almost no one will attack something which can be tanked easily and made into bait.

And don't forget about ship scanners which can be used freely....

Sure, you can.

Fit weapons instead of mining lasers then.

Fighting back doesn't always involve shooting people. Making yourself costly to gank is as valid a way as any other at fighting back against gankers.

Most gankers will leave Skiffs and Procurers alone, because they're generally bloody hard to kill before Concord roll up and do their thing, requiring significantly more effort and ships than the guy in the max yield Mackinaw. They rarely turn out to be profitable either, unless of course someone uses it to transport 2 billion in implants through lowsec Roll

Some miners accept ganks as a business cost, they write it off as such; others fly properly tanked ships, mitigating the risk of getting ganked by being an unviable target. As for the rest.....

True enough, but people still fall for obvious bait.

The numerous tales of "I shouldn't have tackled the bait Drake on the gate, but I did because it might not have been bait" attest to that P

I gank. And I'm happy to fight a ship that can fight back. See you soon Shadowlightt.

IBTL - I don't hate gankers. I pity them. It's like buying someone a Ferrari
and they can't get it out of the driveway.

ganking combats stupidity

the other night we're out working the ice fields and pass by a hulk sitting afk on a gate for at least an hour, nothing fitted at all
we eventually came back and got him too

later another guy in a hulk was running out of our base and was smart enough to dock up while we raised hell for a couple hours, but then he got stupid and went out while we were in system, popped him and his pod

stupidity, you got a gank crew working out of your system and you go mining in a hulk...

I think ganking is hilarious. When I started doing it, I felt empowered. Like anything was possible again. 1.0 sec? I could still kill you. Sometimes I do. That's very EvE. Instead of complaining about it you should try it. Just kill a few people in a .5 system or something and see how you feel about it afterwards. It's fun!

It's like picking a fruit before it's full grown.

You're cutting down the Orange tree and eating the bark and trunk, when you could've just waited a bit and had a never ending supply of oranges.

On a different note... If some of you gankers looked even half as good as your avatars, I could love you for about 3 hours.

Yes, at my age 3 hours is a really long time for that Blink

Really now. Why do I regularly kill/lose ships in low sec on wormholes then?

i got case like this.

was roaming over Caldari space and found 2 retrievers named after their owners - 2 persons from State Protectorate. Surprisingly they both were on the same belt. Warped, killed one of them. Second warped away. Docked, repaired, moved to next system... Returned 10 minutes later and found second target AFKING IN THE SAME BELT Shocked

Good times....

PS: i know this is offtopic and belongs to S&I subforum. However: does participation in FW gives bonuses to mining? Lol

OP: We don't. Also, why do you pity gankers for a decision they don't make? That doesn't even make any sense. Ugh
