I looked up the wikipedia page on Simo Häyhä and apparently the article linked earlier about him was pretty much spot-on. I did find one discrepancy, however:

"After hearing about how much ass Häyhä was kicking out on the frozen tundra of eastern Finland with an antiquated bolt-action piece-of-**** rifle, the Finnish High Command decided to give him a special award: a custom-built Sako M2/28-30 Sniper Rifle of Headshots +3. He put this to good use, killing the ever-loving **** out of anyone that crossed him."

From Wikipedia: "A "Swedish donation rifle" Simo later received as gift was a Finnish model M/28-30 but he did not use it in battle."

Seems what really happened is the guy didn't want to lose any badass points by getting rid of any handicaps. He just stuck the perty gun on the wall and went back out with ol' trusty rusty to go finnish up his red army excavation project.

Couldn't help myself:

Q.) Why did Finland always beat Russia in the track events at the olympics?

A.) Because if you start off russian you'll be too tired to get to the finnish line.
Edit: alternate answer: It's not about how much you Russian, but whether or not you Finnish.

Well some rifles fared quite badly in the cold and he was used to his old rifle.
So he decided to be pragmatic about it and keep the trophy rifle as trophy rifle and since the old one was good enough for the job why tarnish the shiny new rifle if the old one was still working and being a pragmatic Finn he wasn't going to throw away a perfectly good rifle just because he had received a new one. Wait, its not really like in rpg game, when you find new axe with bonus and automatically hack a dragon with one hit, actually new rifle can go together with new ballistics, new trigger, and it's new, not tested in battle by soldier. I remember from old lecture that snipers were attached to their particular weapons because they were slightly different even one to another within the same model line.

Yeah I know all that, I just wanted to suggest that his choice to do so made him more badass.
