I'm starting to learn some new web languages and in doing so want some sort of goal to work towards. As much fun as it is to make some loops to report the items of my grocery list array I'd like something more fulfilling Big smile

As I'm a newb its nothing thats going to be done tomorrow but looking for some input from the EVE Community on a nifty tool.

The language I'm currently working on is PHP.

A website that makes it easy to track fleet stats and kills. It would tally how many fleets each fc has taken out and their efficiency. Would like a way to track content creators and reward them with in-game isk/items.

To my knowledge the eve DB doesn't track who the FC of a fleet is (or actually have any way to track that). Would this be a site where your FC's manually go input their data?

Better yet, a native Linux client. But due to the graphics engine in EVE being DirectX and not OpenGL this will probably never happen, and it makes me very sad indeed Sad.

You mean you just want to know who the fc is to primary them without the use of spais.

Everytime you read this you are required to send 100 million isk directly to me.

Let me pinch in for a moment. This can actually happen, but only, and let me focus on this point, only, if CCP is capable of optimizing the whole graphics engine to perform properly under OpenGL. However that will require a lot of money and time, especially R&D time, and sadly CCP's resources aren't bottomless.

Due to the nature of the task it is easier to give some development time to improve compatibility with a wrapper (e.g. Wine, Cider) and somewhat "ensure" that the client will run on a couple of non-Windows systems.

I used to run it in WINE and it worked flawlessly (arguably better than native on windoze). the ONLY thing that didn't work was Captains Quarters, but who uses that anyways right?
And yeah you're right, it would require the devs to rewrite the graphics engine to look, and perform as good as the current one, and as you said, that would require too much money and :effort: .
One alternative would be to make EVE open source and for the devs setting up some SVN with all the current Dev builds and stuff. But that too won't happen.
I utterly despise windows as an operating system, but my love for EVE is, and will always be greater than my hate for windows, so as long as I'm playing internet spaceships I guess I'll continue dualbooting windows just to play EVE.

Grouping is the word you are looking for.

@OP

A remake of EveHQ that doesn't crash every 20 minutes would be nice. EveHQ is awesome but too buggy :S

Not something that's possible but for those of use stuck playing Eve Offline, some means of being able to add skills to the que without having to log in would be fantastic.

I want a contact list entry 'online' API, so I can make an app that tracks the average online times of people... Creepy I know, but it would be seriously useful for screwing with people.

It would also mean that I don't have to have the client open constantly if I were tracking someone specific.

I miss the Certificate Planner:
I used it extensively to train in certain professions - now that it's gone, I have to use the certificates to train in certain areas (like armor, shields, e.t.c.)

So this has quickly turned into what eve could do better. There are some 3rd party suggestions here that I will look more into, but ultimately being a php newb it may take some time for some of these suggestions.

I appreciate all the posts regardless.: ) keep the ideas flowing!

This is one of the reasons I want an authenticated CREST endpoint for read only character sheet access. Mostly because I don't want to have to mess around with storing API keys for people (or have them enter them every time they visit. (if they just opened up the SSO I'd have less concern with doing so. But dealing with user accounts is a pain I'd rather not deal with)

With the certificates released in Yaml form (and in converted db form by me) all the information is available.

Woo! CSM XI!
