was wondering...
I tried for gigles and such Raven Cheap Issue on some L4s solo... usual fit of T2 tank \ Target painters \ cruise missiles.
I don't use any prop mod I've adapted to just tank everything...

My thoughts are the dps of the Scorpion Navy Issue Vs the Raven Cheap issue.
I read online on some places that they basically got same dps ?

I thought to upgrade into Raven Navy Issue but comparing it to the Cheap issue it seems same ship with more dps oriented bonus and from my experience this few days i'm pretty happy with the DPS of the normal Raven (killed everything in timely fashion) but on some missions even with range\speed\rat specific tanking and T2 tank modules sometimes u get such huge damages spikes I was wondering if the Scorpion Shield resists buffs won't be more beneficial...

SNI got extra med slot can fit second TP there, also seems easier to fit and with all the shield and tanking bonuses I can fit extra gank there but it comes down to the bottom line...

TL;DR Raven (cheap issue) and SNI got same DPS?

Yeah, basically. Raven is fine too though and so is Typhoon, which is the cheapest of all of them and probably superior to RNI but I have no evidence to support that claim.

hmmm I tested EFT with my skills...
God that SNI is horrible ship...

I've used gank mods a planty and it got inferior dps compared to the CNR... also with CNR while having awsome sauce dps I had on EFT around 90K EHP while SNI had only like 60-70k EHP....

All the Caldari missile BS have the same base DPS: 8 effective launchers

The Raven is cheap, has good range, 2 utility high slots, and is a little faster than the average BS
The Navy Raven has a damage application bonus, has good range, decent alpha and is a little faster than the average DPS
The Navy Scorp is slow as a brick, tough as a brick, has 1 utility high, and needs to get closer to do damage than the Ravenkind.

It is not intended that one be the obviously better choice than the others. Each has it's role. The CNR excels as a cruise missile sniper; the Raven does well as a torp gankboat or OK as a long range DPS with cruise; the NavScorp is a straight up slugger.

I think you must have forgotton to apply skills in EFT. A SNI with only a Damage Control II fitted has almost 75k EHP.

With basic Leadership skills, 2 LSEs, an Invuln, and EM hardener, and 2 CDFEs you're already getting past 150k EHP.

Adding 3 BCUs and 6x T2 launchers with CN torps brings you to 948DPS before drones. The navy scorp also has lots of CPU and enough grid, so you can vary the hull a lot with ewar, TPs, or whatever else.

It's slow, but it's versatile, tough and powerful. What was your problem again?

applied skills, used DCU II and still like less 1000 damage per barrge compared to the CNR.

EDIT

Ok tested the CNR on some l4s and with meta 4 launchers mind you....
holy mother of the god of all missiles! this thing insta pop stuff! this thing 3 shots battleships!
just glorious!

EDIT 2:
This morning I did smuggler interception (L$) with blood raiders using the raven...
Just did same mission with CNR.. same fit more or less (extra 2 launchers... switched to less CPU Shield Booster) and...
CNR kills stuff real quick I can imagine with T2 launchers and faction BCU how stuff goes pop.
But I was more surprised from the tank! With the raven I had to squeeze shield booster here and there with the CNR I just stood there aggro'd full room around 6-8 BS with loads of small stuff shoots at me and from ranges of 20 to 90 km they all missed :X only when some BS got into 14 km range I saw some damage.. dam I approve of this ship.

Care to share your fit? Big smile I'm heavily invested in missiles and Caldari ships (slowly working to Golem), tried them all but struggle to find something I'm comfortable with in terms of tank with a decent dps output.

Something like this... (you might need cpu implant [3% one from lp store works great]), switch damage type and the 3 hardeners according to the rats you're fighting against.
http://eve.aeonoftime.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/npc-damage-types-cheat-sheet-v1.4.png

Also note that I only took light scout drones, I've found that even with my not so epic skills using this hull and TP I can 2 shot cruisers and easily kill all of the above up to bs.... my only problem is frigates so better hoard on light scouts for those.
But funny part is I'm going to start a new class in our local college so I won't have time for missions. (sold my ship :X )

The Raven, CNR, and Navy Scorp, will all get the same DPS, if they are all fitted the same. But it's the volley that varies. The CNR and the Golem will put out identical damage. The Raven, and the Navy Scorp will also put out identical damage.

My Golem has 984 dps, with 8080 volley. My Raven has 984dps, but with 6060 volley.

My alt's: CNR has 964dps with 8080 volley; Raven has 964 with 6060 volley, and Navy Scorp does 964 with 6060 volley.

I hope that helps explain it.

(yes, I have some implants, use Fury, and Caldari BCUs to get that high of damage. Some other guys even get higher.)

Always remember Tovil-Toba, and what was done there.

Thanks for the explanation!

Wait...

You say the Raven is the better Torp ship but the CNR is perfect for Sniping? Dafuq?
