The two main reasons for me are the openness and the community. Both are outstanding.

The openness lets you use your imagination a lot more than other mmos and the community is more intelligent than most other gaming communities.

Because it allows me to interact with others without the restrictions other games put on the players.
Because i don't have to grind stuff and can't grind myself to a levelcap or whatever.
Because there's so much to explore and see.
Because the NPCs aren't really a big part of the game, unlike in other games.
Because i can set up traps REAL people may or may not fall into.
Because it has a real economy.
Because it forced me to think about stuff and learn new things.
Because i dislike MMOs and EvE is closer to a simulation.
Because people care. (many at least ... and the rest are just casual players, in a wider sense)
Because it hurts, unlike any other game. It inherits value.

Because CCP is different. They make mistakes, no doubt about it, but i don't know any other
company that gets so close to the community.

Because i can and have made HUNDREDS of nice screenshots from HUNDREDS of POVs.
Which, btw, i can all scrap because of the new nebulae and all the new eyecandy. -.- lol

Because i can sell you Elite Drone AI for 150 Million ISK and can buy a PLEX for 400k.

Because unlike any other game out there,
whatever i do, i always affect somebody else out there.
Just like all of us do in the real world, altough most don't even realize.

*sighs*

I stopped having a valid, logical reason years ago. I guess the honest answer is that it's more difficult to give up on training skills than it is to keep on playing, sad but true.

To atone for the sins committed in a previous life.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Fair Enough :)
Well i love the vastness of the game.. how you can choose to do almost anything..
And ive come to know some really good people...
pvp is fun sometimes...
ive done alot... lived in 0.0 for a long time ... did the mining / moon mining thing for a bit...
and ran a couple corps... which usually falls apart...
BUT lately i find my self logging in and instantly bored....
I fly around... kill a couple rats.. update my skill training and end up logging off...
So im looking for something new... something to re-vitalize the game for me...
which leads me to the question i asked...

I'm playing as a retirement plan, don't bury me - just plug me in!

Hmm, should have lots of skill points by then, presumably more than real life P

Because I can blow stuff & earn ISK to do stuff.

Because I can set my own goals and pursue them as I see fit, on my own, not depending on anyone else.

Because it's huge and there's always new things to see or places to got or to be and stuff to do even if i don't give a damm of it.

Because i can play ti for a slong or as short as my time budget allows.

Because all my avatars are pretty women, and i like seeing pretty women. Having created them myself, out of my imagination and skills, makes me feel proud of them each time I get to do a good portrait, find a nice spot at the CQ, and just say: "wow, ain't her beautiful?"

Because each now and then you meet amazing people, and it's easy to not meet the scum.

Bcause CCP is quite unlike other corps in the industry, and interacts with players. And they can really commit to excellence when they want to.

And because i've been playing EVE for three years, almost continously, and have stopped playing other games and worrying about what-is-the-novelty-this-season.

because of falcon

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

To rule my own space-empire. Unfortunately that part of EVE is broken. The velvet rope on the space-empire club keeps everyone not on Grayscale's friends list firmly out. So right now... I don't. I play forums, I log in to check skills, do any chores if my corp has some for me to do, run some incursions, pop in to answer some questions in help chat, and wait for a day when EVE is for EVErybody. If summer doesn't open it up, I'm probably out for good.
