If it was free to convert your account to a Steam account, would you?

No. Steam is nice, but there is absolutely no reason to needlessly add layers of administration and platform dependence.

No, Steam sucks. Their no refunds policy means I'm better off buying games at my local JB Hi Fi where 'no refunds' policies are illegal by Australian law. Which is why I was one of the lucky few to get a hassle free refund for X-Rebirth. The only reason EVE is even on Steam is because a lot of people use Steam, and it's a good way for CCP to raise awareness of the game's existence without exorbitant advertising.

Steam has a courtesy 1-time-only refund. It is completely unfeasible to provide refunds for a digital distribution medium without having some incredibly intrusive DRM.

No, the steam UI causes more problems than it's worth, and Eve is not a game that would work well with Steam as most people have more than one character active at a time and I even have multiple installations to keep different setting profiles separate from one another.

If there was a way to tell steam that I'm playing EVE with steam having no communication or contact with the client (Kind of like the Xfire of old but without the process hooking) I would for the potential for new players as a result of it being top listed but other than that? No.

Settings > Uncheck steam ingame overlay

It is possible to run multiple clients through steam using different installs.

Since CCP already has a competent delivery system, yes, it is unnecessary to fully integrate EVE with steam. However it is nice to have the option (which we already do) for increased visibility and accessibility. The only reason CCP should have for switching to full steamworks is if it significantly reduces operating costs, which can then be put towards making my spaceships prettier and more fun.

I like Steam but when I ran EVE in Steam, I had more problems with disconnects than I do now.
When Steam went down, my EVE client went down with it.

I'd say no because it's pointless, but as an aside I am sort of surprised at all the Steam hate. Personally I think Steam is a super convenient way to get my game fix.

Of course I am a lazy POS who mostly can't be bothered to venture out to a real store (or to put pants on tbh) when I'm not at work.

What's the alternative? Origin? No thanks. EA can go die in a fire. GOG? Meh. Old ****** games are old and ******.

OP, just add your API to Chribba's eveboard.com. It tracks your hours logged in among many other things. Hell, there's even leaderboards for that. :o)

I have very mixed feelings about Steam.

On the one hand I hate the way it gets in my face when playing Skyrim, I thought that I had bought a stand-alone game but was shocked to realise that I was lumbered with Steam as well. Not nice.

On the other hand Valve are trying to stir up game-playing on Linux. As I only use Linux I would like to get my hands on a few of the games that don't work well with Wine. Added to which with Valve leading the way maybe more publishers will take the plunge and support Linux as well.

It would be nice to have the chance to have native Linux ports and for that I thank Valve but to me Steam is a solution looking for a problem.
