Not buying it as real at all. A simple count of people would have exposed that nobody was missing. And those things have a passenger manifest, that would also reveal nobody was missing.

This is one of those stories that gets revived occasionally, but with location name replacements and all that.

....just exactly like those "testicle biting fish" stories that appear, happening either in Finland, the American midwest, or any other kind of lake country.

No, it's true, this woman is famous.

When she was a girl she was overheard in a record shop to ask "did you know Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?". She also once phoned the police while being robbed who couldn't get them to come out until she said "don't worry I've shot them both" at which point they rushed out to the call. Another time she paid for an Arab guys shopping and was told to stay away from New York on 9/11/2001.

Seeing as there are no victims to anyone getting fooled by this story, like there are in false tales of vaccines causing autism and homeopathy curing it, I don't see what the harm is. I think you're just being cynical for it's own sake, but you're right, it's just an assumption. At the end of the day, at least I'm honest about that :)
