Manticore/Kestrel hull

Are there plans to skin the Kestrel to look like the Manticore. I thought that is something that would have been done some time ago.

I think the point of changing the Manticore was so it didn't look like the Kestrel. Making the Kestrel look like the Manticore would defeat the purpose.

When they changed the crucifier recently they chnaged the Sentinel also. I just thought the Kestrel looks a bit crap whilst the Manticore looks good.

The Stealth Bomber hulls were changed to look more unique and easily identifiable, Sentinel is an Electronic Attack Ship so no, it's not the same =)

I think, ideally, all T2 ships should follow suit after the stealth bomber hulls -- that is, be reminiscent of their T1 base hulls, but also be unique and more refined looking. I seem to recall CCP saying something similar to this, that they wanted more T2 hulls to be differentiated from their T1 base hulls.

Properly designing new hulls takes quite a bit of time, and it seems like they're focusing on renewing T1 hulls primarily now. Come back in 10 years and maaybe =)

This ^

Stealth bombers looked crappy in frigate hulls so they changed them. I wish they would redesign all T2 ship hulls this way but due to the time this would take and other projects taking priority it's unlikely to happen soon.

Of course. Thus, "ideally." Would be a long term goal for sure, since, what, at the current rate just a couple hulls are getting updated per year.

They weren't changed to look more unique, they were changed with the advent of fitted missile launchers showing on your ship;
As such a slightly larger, that is, more bulky hull was required because a regular kestrel with battleship sized launchers on it would look ridiculous, kinda like that old bug where you could put battleship sized guns on frigate.

This wasn't as much of an issue on the Manticore, as it already had some ship surface to house the new torpedo launchers, but the old Nemesis, Hound and Purifier... no way.

Actually, they stated the redesign was inspired by the fact that the new models for bomb and torpedoes launchers would not work on the old stealth bombers so they needed to be redone anyway.

the fact that they look cool is just a bonus.
