Mining should not be that entertaining since it's the lowest player skill (not "pilot" skill) way to earn ISK. Mining is there to take you out of the initial ISK rut as a brand new player (depends on your play style), and to drive to do riskier and more exciting things in EVE.

In some ways, mining being boring is by design.

And as far as risks go.. go mine Veldspar in your Venture in a rookie system and I doubt anyone would want to gank you. The ganks come in with greater risk/reward mining (as it should).

I don't think anybody would seriously argue mining should be more rewarding. It's plenty rewarding given how low risk it is. The complain is that it's pretty boring, and that's really quite true.

It would be cool if mining always gave a fixed amount but allowed you to play a mini game for a 5-10% bonus per minute (or 5 or whatever it takes to balance it so it's lucrative but doesn't make non-game mining completely pointless). This would at least give miners who aren't watching Netflix etc. a chance to do something more interesting than just watch the recycle on their mining mods.

Mining mini-game sounds good. I think non-multibox miners would enjoy that, especially if the minigame can yield greater rewards if you play it well. Multiboxers would be utterly screwed however.

I dont know for sure which is the more numerous form of miner, but I think multiboxers are a majority in terms of who is bringing minerals into the economy, seeing as a single multiboxer accounts for 2-6 single account miners.

If there was an independant mining minigame per rock, it would make multibox mining defunct over-night. Their activity relies on being able to control all ships with one click.

Economic implications would be huge. With, at my estimate, atleast 75% of mining accounts suddenly disappearing as a result of being reduced to one toon per mining player, instead of 2-6, mineral prices would sky rocket.

Furthermore, I think mining multiboxers account for a huge market in PLEX. As a result of 2-6 toons per mining multiboxer dissappearing, PLEX prices would plummet.

So as cool as it would be for game content, the peripheral effects imo make it unfeasible to make a mining minigame.

Reducing mining cycle timers doesnt do anything either.

My primary suggestion, would be naturalising Ice Belts with other Ore Anomalies, by making them a random, sweeping, unpredictable spawn.
