How many carebears are needed to feed a griefer?

Just wondering what the answer is to these related questions:

How often can a carebear lose a ship, and still find their carebearing gameplay sustainable?

How many carebears does a griefer need to *pop* to make this gameplay style both enjoyable and economically sustainable?

eg: If a carebear can tolerate losing a ship once every 20 hours in-game, and the griefer need to *pop* a carebear every 30 minutes to satiate their appetite, then you need at least 40 carebears per griefer to maintain a stable environment.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the sustainable ratio?

Iceni.

PS: Griefing and carebear terms used simply because you'll all know what I'm talking about. Not using these as an insult, and not supporting or condemning either game-play.

well that would depend wouldn't it?

losing a t1 freighter full of BPOs has a lot more impact on the head than losing a dozen retrievers

Question of the wolf's appetite. Usually stalking sheep is satisafactory and only weeding out the weakest ones is enough for some entire heards are not enough.

How much weed could a woodchuck smoke if a woodchuck could smoke weed?

Griefers aren't wolves. They are the crazy racoons that jump out and bite you, giving you fatal rabies.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Yup.

And they usually pick off those that become separated from the herd. I guess the EVE equivalent is a carebear leaving hi-sec and being picked off...

Soooo... is why we need to encourage lots of players feeling safe in high-sec, to keep a much smaller number of lowsec griefers happy. Big smile

Lols. 1 carebear and 1 griefer? I think that would lead to a harassment petition.

Only if 1 = A constant. if 1 = A B C D E F G.... ect. then its not harassment/greifing by ccp's definition.

I don't think there's an objective answer. I'll give you a subjective one: I don't like to lose ships. Why? Because I'm a care-bear. Care-bears don't like losing even one ship. Flying around trying to buy all the modules again and fit the damned thing, instead of doing care-bear stuff, is not fun at all.

Now, how many billions do I have in the bank, exactly how many hours do I need to do what I do to pay all my "rolling stock", well that's my business. You would have to try very hard to hurt me, because my wealth is not in ISK and ship inventory - it's in the fact that I've learned how to make ISK quickly. So even if you took everything I have and left me with nothing, it would take me about 2 days of doing missions (starting with a frigate) to raise the seed capital I would need to get my real op started again. Within a week or so I'd be a billionaire again. That right there is pretty much what makes the game fun for me. I've already won EVE.

Yeah I have a hard time replacing ships oftenly, i mean I got fittings presaved that I use to sell prefit ships to customers but rarely use for myself.

Interesting post. Based on the pending changes coming in over the next few months, CCP feel the need to boost their carebear population quite a bit. I've seen the consequences of not taking action here, and old text MUD I used to play. Population in terminal decline, rampant griefing of any new players foolish enough to try to get involved. Most of the low level industry equivalent jobs are carried out by alt accounts that are usually botted/scripted.

How many bears do you need to sustain a griefer? I'd say a 10 to 20:1 ratio. Even if you assume griefers only spend a small % of their time successfully griefing people, griefing in Eve is pretty harsh compared to most games! Certainly not something a normal person would put up with for a large % of their playtime.

It's a matter of how much they run around in terror, and place energy in their attempts to evade & escape, particularly as the minutes turn into hours. The exhibited fear and response to potential loss is akin to an ambrosia. How do you put a price on such a thing? Does the ship loss of either party really matter in contrast with such a narcotic?
