"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 7/2014 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2014

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week from February 22nd to 28th

Dev blogs and official information
  • Join Fanfest 2014!
  • Fanfest 2014 is going to be a spectacular event! Of course EVE Online will be celebrated with a first live demo of the Summer 2014 expansion, the world's first hands-on experience of the next major evolution of DUST 514, an exclusive hands-on of the latest EVE Valkyrie build and many more presentations, dev tracks and round table discussions. Of course there will be parties, lots of them! Don't miss out Fanfest 2014!

  • Community Spotlight: Sir Squeebles - Forum discussion
  • CCP Eterne presents in the long running Community Spotlight series this time the streamer "Sir Squeebles". He is a quite popular, but also a bit of a controversial streamer of EVE as he makes his audience laugh but also sometimes rubs some people the wrong way. Read more about this in the Community Spotlight and check out Sir Squeebles' stream!

Devposts on the forum and news
  • CREST killmail endpoints updates
  • CCP FoxFour continues to update the CREST killmail endpoints, rooting out bugs and fixing issues there. If you have exampled of things that might be broken or weird, please let CCP FoxFour know!

  • Jita and its population cap
  • The maximum concurrent population in the main trade hub, the Jita system, is currently capped at 2175. This is done to prevent excessive time dilation as CCP Explorer explains with his post that contains some more details and interesting background information. CCP Explorer also confirms that chat channel activity in Jita doesn't contribute to the system load in any significant way.

  • EVE True Stories from Dark Horse - Issue #1 free to download
  • CCP Falcon explains that Dark Horse, the publisher of the EVE True Stories comic series, has an app for digital download. The app is free to download and the EVE True Stories comic book #1 is a free download from within this app. Enjoy!

  • Rebalancing of capital ships?
  • A player question on when capital ships will be rebalanced. CCP Ytterbium explains that first the most common classes first, starting with Tech 1 and Tech 2, were rebalanced and then the more advanced hulls. Now some ships on the Tech 2 category are left, then pirate ships, Tech 3 ships and then capitals.

  • Shortage of new players in EVE?
  • Player concerns that EVE isn't attracting enough new players and slowlz dying out is firmly rejected by CCP Manifest. In fact, EVE Online has a growing subscriber base every year since its beginning!

  • Scattering exploration loot containers
  • While CCP Affinity confirms that she is looking into removing the scattering exploration loot contains at some point and balancing the according loot tables, she doesn't set feature priorities - that is the producers job!

  • Bugged asteroids got fixed quickly
  • With Rubicon 1.2.1, released on February 19, the asteroid reseeding broke in an unforseen way. A few hours later a fix was developed which was deployed just one day after on February 20 with Rubicon 1.2.2. Asteroids since then are properly respawning again! Patch notes for Rubicon 1.2 can be found here.

  • Signed EVE Collector's Editions
  • The EVE: The Second Decade Collector's Edition is an amazing collection of items to celebrate the second decade of EVE Online. Some of the editions got even signed by the CCP developers. CCP Falcon confirms the existence of currently 14 such units.

  • Deployment frequency
  • CCP Explorer sums up the history of patch and expansion deployments in 2013: 7 major deployments and many patches and hotfixes. Currently ten major deployments are lined up for 2014, but that number can increase easily.
