Japanese TV is great. My favorite used to be Tantei Knight Scoop. [Tantei = "detective work"]. Viewers would send letters with questions about various odd things, and the show's detectives would investigate. Examples:
-My son is spending a year traveling around Japan on foot. He hasn't called or written in a month. Can you find him?
-I saw in a historic book that there used to be kites big enough to carry a person. Is it really possible to ride on a kite?
-I want to try to catch a fly with chopsticks like Miyamoto Musashi.
