Although we use them I think they were a terrible idea from a gameplay standpoint. However I am sure they are here to stay. Can we at least come up with some way to fix this dynamic:

1. wh pve dude gets dropped on and killed. 50% possible loot drop
2. mtu immediately scoops the loot and now must be killed. another 50% drop

Sure you can kill the tractor first, while the other guy just slowboats out of range because the mtu has way more hp than even the noctis. Or as happens, you just kill they guy knowing you probably aren't going to get paid. Incentive to pvp slightly reduced.

We got caught by this too - ganked 2x 2Bn isk tengus but didn't think about the tractor unit until it had stolen the 1st tengu's modules (a-types...).

Next time we will certainly kill the tractor before the target ships.

pro tip: fit a web...

I agree with your analysis re Noctis in c4 space and down. Absolutely no reason to put 100m on the table. However in c6 space it takes an MTU 40 minutes to salvage a fully escalated site so we often send noctis' in to sites 2 and 3 to work alongside the MTU to save time.

In C5/6 space a further incentive to use a noctis to get salvagaing done fast is that each MTU is holding about 800m worth of artefacts. You don't ideally want it blown up because you left it lying around too long...

As for hi-sec salvaging, I did my own time-efficiency analysis. If you have an alt, you're better off bringing him into the site alongside the main toon to provide gang links + extra dps (an EOS + curators is perfect for this) and leave the salvaging to Pro-Synergy. This way, the main toon can replace tank modules with dps modules so there is an efficiency gain. It really isn't worth reshipping and returning for the loot when you can use the time to move on and make more wrecks and earn more LP.

Embers Children is recruiting carefully selected pilots who like wormholes, green killboards and the sweet taste of tears. You can convo me in game or join the chat "TOHA Lounge".

Are there any ideas to increase/decrease the storage capacity of higher meta MTUs?

MTU Feature Request:
It would be great to be able to override the tractor of the MTU with the local tractor of the ship.

Description:
MTU pulls a wreck/can (e.g. from out of local tractor range).
Once you activate the local tractor for said wreck/can,
the MTU switches from that wreck/can to the next wreck/can.

Feature request MTU:

Preference settings for:

Priority to pull a) or b) (and one of them).
a) Wreck size (small to large or vice versa)
b) Distance (near to far or vice versa)

Example:

a) "small to large" & b) far to near

..will pull all small wrecks first untill only meds are left, starting with the farest. Then go on with meds.

a) "large to small" & b) near to far

.. will pull BS wracks closest first and then walk the line to farest distance. If all BS are salved, start over with closest med wreck.

Seeing as how theres no feedback, and it goes live tomorrow, Im gonna take a wild stab in the dark here and say this thread was started to inform us about the new MTUs, rather then asking for feedback about them.

One thing that would be nice, if they didn't tractor empty wreaks.

For those of us who salvage our wrecks, that would be a detrimental "feature" for the MTU. It's awesome to be able to come back to an MTU in my Noctis and collect all the loot, scoop the MTU, then have all the empty wrecks within salvaging range.

The MTU's lack target priority isn't just going against using multiple MTU's, it also seriously hampers those who would like to use salvage drones.

Seriously, anyone in their right mind who was building a mobile device used for pulling in distant objects for nearby processing isn't going to bother pulling the closest - already in working range - objects first.

Ideal Priority -
Wrecks with loot - furthest then nearest
Wrecks without loot - furthest then nearest
Cargo Containers - nearest then furthest

I agree with your ideal priority for an MTU. IMHO, they *should* start pulling in the farthest wrecks first out to their max of 125km.

However, it doesn't hamper the use of salvage drones. Warp in to the MTU in your Noctis and before you target anything, launch salvaging drones and then, set them to salvage. The drones will begin salvaging from the nearest wreck to the furthest automatically. If they salvage a "filled" wreck, that wreck drops a can with the loot inside. The salvage drones will operate out to your maximum drone range according to skills/implants. Just launch them and forget them until you get to within a few wrecks. You can pull them in at any time and finish up yourself.

Cant wait to see MTU's for 500mil a pop. I seriously dont need faster working MTU's. what i need now is a deployable which can salvage next to my regular MTU.

While that would be quite nice, it would make the Noctis obsolete. As it is, you drop an MTU in each pocket and usually, by the time you get back in your Noctis, the MTU has everything pulled within salvaging range. I can do two lvl 4's by myself and then, dock up, get into my Noctis and go out and clean all that stuff up. Having a structure that also salvages would just mean the Noctis is worthless.

noctis is kinda redundant?

Not just due to MTU's. Do two or three missions in a row and then go back in your Noctis to salvage the areas.

IMHO, the MTU is almost perfect the way it is. I've been playing the game since 2004, so I remember when NPC's just dropped cans all over the freakin place. Then the wrecks came into play and we had to go all over hell and gone to loot and salvage. For me, I'm not going to complain about something that makes my life easier. Except for the prioritization as noted above, I think the MTU is perfect the way it is.

I must admit tho. Launching for Corp or allowing Corp members to pick one up would be awesome!

Im disappointed in the blatant disregard to the players (mine as well as others) feedback. Next time, lock the thread so we dont waste our time.

I love my MTU. I'm looking forward to getting the Magpie.

When I come home from work, I run a quick L4 in hisec each night. Whatever I make from those L4s is my PVP budget for my main account. Invariably, right as I'm finishing off a mission, some guy in a BC warps into my mission, and immediately blasts my MTU to aggress.

I scoop the MTU, finish the mission, and leave.

I leave because I'm blind with no intel in a PVE ship worth 100x what the PVP fit tank/tackler is aggressing in. Scooping and leaving is what an intelligent person should do. So now I can get an MTU that isn't a blinking neon sign on the scanners? Yes please! I'm sure it will still be scanned, but I'll pay for it to be less often.

Adding meta version hrmmmm, does that mean that the current MTu will be moved to Meta 0 where it should be instead of Meta 1 where it currently is( I nearly re-processed it the other day because it was in the Meta 1 listing)

The Basic MTUs are still Meta 1 :(
