About the only thing he got right. There's plenty of room for new players in combat. Every fleet needs fast ships to scout and grab targets. If you don't have the skill points or the experience to win fights by yourself, join a group where you can be useful and gain that experience. There's a lot to learn for a new pilot and skill points are not the only barrier you'll come up against.

Good options for new players solely interested in combat are Faction Warfare, Brave Newbies, RvB. Faction warfare is nice because it also provides a way to fund your ships. These are definitely not the only options, there are many smaller corps which specialize in small gang combat. Talk to your corp-mates and see if they do this sort of thing. If not, ask them to try or find a new corp. You won't last long in EVE in a group that doesn't cater to your interests.

Plenty of room for people who know how to shut up and listen. Knowing your place is important. His attitude tells me he's not the type. He's also lost in the sandbox. Seriously doubt EVE is the right game for him.

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.

Alright I finished the military combat tutorials and now I'm just flying around space doing nothing. What do I do next to further my play style.

Run missions for isk, LP and standings:

Distribution missions, pick up at A and go to B.
Mining Missions, go to here, mine required materials, return.
Security Missions, go blow up NPCs.

Storyline mIssions come once every 16 missions with the same faction and at the same level. Theses improve your standing with the faction and often have good rewards.

You could join faction warfare and earn LP while getting in to PVP. However I would recommend getting a secondary income stream to pay for the frigates you'll use and lose. (mining or security missions maybe).

Join RvB (Red vs Blue) and learn the ropes of 'civilized' PVP.

Learn exploring in high-sec. Once you get the hang of it go to low-sec or null for the cat-and-mouse game that that can be.

Merchant raiding (hunting PI collectors). That is more of a patience game though.

plus: Industry, research, mining, trading, scamming, lying, cheating, socializing.....

I recognize your corp from playing dust, are many of your guys playing eve?

i've only been playing for about 2-3 weeks, and i kinda felt the same at the end of the tutorials, the lack of isk was a a pain

along with grinding away on security missions, i've been ratting in low sec, looting everything and anything i can, and salvaging mine and everyone elses wrecks, buying cheap stuff and and selling it for more, theres stuff to do if you go look, and i find doing different things makes it feel less grindy

The sisters of eve missions pay better than lvl 1's and 2's, and its right next door to some busy low-sec systems for extra activites

Ooh he is a "Hit match - instant gratification" Bunny. Explains a lot.

Ooh your one of those "Eve dip sh*ts" that no one likes, that explains a lot.

I only have an attitude when people just cry and moan because someone just asked for help and instead gets a post like yours...
But your right im lost in a sandbox with no map or a compass to say "hey go that way and good luck". And on a side note I've read, watch, and listen to every piece of information that's came my way and the only thing J'Poll and you taught me was to expect trolls at every corner of the way.

Do ALL the tutorials. Find out what you like doing.

Kinda just said what I like, combat.

No, you said you finished the combat tutorial.

That doesn't automatically means you like it.

Do them all.
Do the SoE Epic Arc

You are in a corp....do corp stuff.

You are doing the ancient old "Help, spoon feed me with content in a sandbox" thread.

I also said "how do I further my play style" which if you didn't read correctly is combat.

Sorry sorry I didn't know I needed other people to find out what I enjoy in games.

I have done them all

My corp is Dust side so very little fun there besides "Lock to District"

Then why did you post, your obviously not here to help so again I ask why did you post?

Hey, OP. So, you're getting some of the responses you're getting because this thread is kind of like a template example of a failthread that people in the forums see very often, literally a few times a month. I've been here for three months and I've seen maybe a dozen myself.

That's a simple fact - you can take it for what it is or get huffy and defensive about it. Yes, some of the responses have been kind of short of rude, but it's because they have seen this thread (and what happens to people that come in defensive when they don't like the answers to "what do I do in Eve") dozens of times.

Even so, there's some good advice above. A good next step for you is the Sisters of Eve epic arc. Search the wiki or Eve Uni for "The Blood Stained Stars". It will give you about 50 missions where you gain significant ISK and experience missioning.

Otherwise, noob PvP corp (Brave Newbies, RvB, etc) is not a bad plan at all, or Faction War, if PvP is your thing. Faction War is the tie-in to Dust as well, so that might interest you. Again, search the wiki.

Stuff

Well. Simple, to show that EVE is a sandbox, you do what YOU want to do.

If you want to Combat (which in itself says nothing...Are you talking PvE or PvP????), do combat stuff.

Also, get into a proper corp. No offence to your Dust Bunny friends, but they aren't going to help you in EVE and the limited things you can do for them is orbital bombardment.

Go join a corp with EVE players to work with and suggest a private channel for you and your dusties to hang out in to stay in contact.

This.

If I would get a dollar for each time we saw a "What should I do in this game" thread, I would be a millionaire by now.

Heh, I love to help new players, but I'm not going to sugar-coat anything. Advice is given in true EVE style....Rude, harsh and cut throat, how else would they survive in the pool filled with sharks, piranhas and alligators.

Any noob can start pvp with a gang with a t1 frigate and a point. Noobs can earn mad isk and learn proper flying skills ninja looting in lo sec.

I am a noob with an alt for market use and I love PVP already. From my research I joined RvB and every night I find good fights, fleets etc.

Of course, I lose every fight and will likely continue to do so for some time. But its all about practice. Although I am losing, I am testing out various fits, ships and situations. I am practising using my scanner and tracking potential targets, I am testing ranges and how different tanks react and feel as well as the different types of damage.

I dont expect to win a fight for some time but I have learnt more in a couple of days of actual practice than weeks of reading about it. Also, when I lose and cannot identify exactly why, I message the winner and ask if he can spare the time to offer me some tips. So far that has also worked well and I made a couple of friends.

To get started I had to buy a couple of plex - one to be able to train 2 characters and one to fund my pvp. I am hoping my market trading on my other account will eventually fund my pvp on this one.

One more thing to add - although I have a fair bit of isk from plex I am still only flying frigates and occasionally destroyers. I feel it is better to be able to fly a cheap ship well than be able to sit in a big expensive one and be a sitting duck.

tl;dr : if you aspire to do PVP just go and do it.
