Hello!

Quote:
EVE System > Channel MOTD: Welcome to the recruitment channel. This channel is intended for those players looking to find a new corporation, as well as those looking to enlist new players. Other activities, such as non-recruitment discussion is not permitted. No scamming is allowed in this channel and this includes, but not limited to, using the recruitment channel as a platform to find or target players to scam. As per subject, we ask everyone to use their best judgment before contracting assets or ISK as part of corporation’s recruitment process and any deals made or finalized outside this channel are done at your own risk and responsibility. An additional recruitment source is the Alliance and Corporation Recruitment Center section of the forums.

I've bolded the stupid part, no offense intended but whoever decided to put that in there should either put a little more thought into things, or have a babysitter who isn't clueless about EVE.
The warning text that comes right after the bolded bit is all that was needed, there's no need to involve gamemasters when there's no account sharing abuse, exploiting or hacking involved. - EVE is supposed to be a harsh gritty game that punishes foolishness, mistake and misplaced trust.

You might not want griefers like myself preying on innocent gullible fools using the recruitment channel, (I haven't actually done so, I prefer different forms of griefing) but it's not really any of your business what happens once the conversation leaves the channel itself, making it your business is pointless, expensive in manhours and most importantly against the spirit of the sandbox - CCP interfering excessively in our private affairs pisses your loyal customers off who in many cases came here for the freedom EVE provides.

(f.i. the thousands of people who started playing after reading about the UQS heist I and DigitalCommunist did back in 2005)

Your banning an eve celebrity for petitioning and encouraging others to petition this change in policy is another stupid decision, have you really still not learned your lesson about this kind of thing ?
This kind of thing doesn't give you new customers or prevent newbies from leaving the game, it encourages loyal players to quit - the exact thing that caused your recent financial difficulties and necessitated firing twenty percent of your workforce.

(GJ not firing anybody the least bit responsible for the mess you got yourself into btw, just get rid of 'em worker bees and grunts and leave all the management intact)

LOL at Eve Celebrity. If ever there was a reason to feel like you failed at life it would be if someone pinned this label on you.

Since there are some replies.. .i will add something too

Scams on personal level are un-interesting, and more or less meaningless.

Nobody cares how many Drone AI or trit you sold. Or how many you got from an person for an promise to get him/her to some corporation/alliance.

You want to be known, you have to do it on alliance level. Once you crash one of the big players out there leaving their alliance in ashes with all the assets they have then you will be known and as far as i know thats not against rules.

Anyway seeing from where you come from, i guess you got it already covered.

Nice edits!

FYI the help channel only bans scamming in the channel itself, if you can't see the difference that's really too bad for you because it's quite a huge one.
What you just described as being "real scammer worth thier salt" behavior is forbidden if you met your victim in the recruitment channel, whereas if you met him in the help channel there's no rule against it.

Edit; as for there being a week old thread that isn't even on the first page, are you serious ? Since there's no active thread about it there's nothing wrong with opening a new one, nobody's forcing you to read it.

I know plenty of scammers that hang out in the local of the nearby starter systems and thats all they do all day long. Thier favorite one is ship jacking.

How is this even a problem? Recruitment gives newbies a degree of safety to find a corp, as not everyone is aware of just how evil we all are (they will learn do, they all do) and there is nothing to stop you recruitment scamming in personal chats and private channels.

Also I dont delete stuff out of edits usually if I did I would have made some grammer corrections. It just saves me from making dozens of posts.

Which is why I say the tutorial needs to betray the player and then discuss the evils in eve and to be wary of those who have offers too good to be true and that Trust is an extremly valuable commidity to be spent sparringly.

That's the thing according to this rule if you originally met them in recruitment channel you're not allowed to scam them, at all, including in personal chats and private channels.
They can always petition and cry to a GM who will have to waste his time investigating.

That's pretty pathetic, but hey if they find it enjoyable then good for them - will probably teach their victims a valuable lesson that'll prevent more significant future mistakes.

You could sit in captains quaters and record the names of all the new players being generated.

You could also sit in one of the starter system with your alts to find ones that are less than a week old and scam them.

Or even better make alts in the starter corp and look for ones that are young and ripe for the taking there.
